  1. Hi Babs......MFN is that Miles From Nowhere ? the old Shipley Boat Inn. If so I used to go there in the 70's to soul nights . That takes me back. If you do see Andy my surname is Callard.
  2. Hi Babs, Yes I think you are right I think it was Andy Murden but I don't think he was related to Frank. The next time you see him Babs ask him if he remembers those Sunday mornings cleaning machines at Sandiacre.
  3. One of them was a right good looker if I remember rightly..... Long black hair and a lovely smile.
  4. Hi Benjamin that's the guy. I knocked around with Steve for a while as I also lived on Broxtowe Estate. We used to play football on wood field park using coats as goalposts . Last time I saw Steve was at an Elastic Yarns reunion in 2000. His mum and dad had an allotment on Aspley Lane and you could often see his dad selling flowers outside the entrance to the allotments on a Saturday morning.
  5. Hi Boston what is your Christian name... I recognise the name Walter Heath but can't picture him but I remember Ted Grundy . You must have worked with Frank Murden in the lab. One of my jobs was taking the sample skeins of yarn down to the lab in the morning for a colour match for the Scholls surgical stocking job which was one of the big runners at the time. For a bit of extra money I used to go to Sandiacre on a Sunday cleaning machines down. I used to get a lift with a guy called Andy ? On the back of his motorbike. I remember he played in a group ..... Drums I think.
  6. Yes but what about Waldo's chip shop....The best fish and chips for miles around.
  7. I'm with you on this one.....a great result for all Forest supporters. Wipe that smile off McClarens smug face.
  8. Sorry only just found this thread. I was at Clarendon College at the same time as Richard Beckinsdale but I was doing business studies not drama but used to see him in the common room/ canteen area......never got to speak to him though. Slightly off topic but my day release was all day in the main building then a break and an evening session in the annexe at the top of Forest Road/ Waverley Street opposite the Vernon Arms where we spent our break having a pint of black velvet and a cob. Happy days.
  9. Hi Babs , The machine you are on about sounds like a Getstetner 120 copier which had a series of pegs along the top that you put the patten on then smoothed the thing to be copied onto the drum pumped in the ink and attached the handle then away you go.
  10. Hi Melissa I do voluntary work for The Lenton Forum. The project I am working on is helping to create a community garden behind the library on Lenton Boulevard which will benefit a lot of people who live in the area including local residents, schoolchildren and users of the library. I love the work and get great satisfaction from helping others. Good luck in your venture.
  11. Are you saying this thread is dead ?
  12. I used to go to Peveril School along with Gloria Morley and Jean Govier. Anybody got any contact details.?
  13. Had a couple in the last few days.
  14. Hi Ann I lived a few doors down from Des Berresford on Yatesbury Crescent and his son Clive used to knock around with Mark Wootton I remember Des was involved in football but not sure which club he was associated with
  15. Hi and welcome Dillb. I have only been a member for 3 weeks and can't stop away from the sight. Very addictive.
  16. Anyone remember the name of the " American" type diner that used to be next to Baker & Plumb on Derby Road about where the Strathdon Hotel is now. I have got a feeling it began with " L" but just can't think of it.
  17. Hi Benjamin I worked for Baker & Plumb in the 60's and we had a team that played in the Thursday League. Others I remember were Notts Fire Service, City Transport, City & County Police, NCS Dairy and Thursday Villa. An anecdote to this story is that the warehouse manager who was also involved in running the team always made sure we had a delivery from Kossett Carpets on a Thursday morning, the reason being that the driver was an ex pro and he could turn out for us on a Thursday afternoon.
  18. In the 70's I had a full beard, 80's through to the 90's a tash and now I sport a goatee. In all that time I have never had any "aggro" from the ladies in my life
  19. I do a lot of walking in the countryside and I would say the majority of people you meet out and about say hello. Even some cyclist say "thank you" if you step to one side to let them pass. I would also say that probably 8 out 10 people say " thank you" to the driver when departing the bus.
  20. Hi Dennis, I remember now it was Ken Stout and his wife Doreen was an accounts clerk I think. I seem to remember another driver I think his name was Barry Hoggard a big guy with curly blonde hair and I think he had a brother who was a driver or who worked in the warehouse.....it was a long while ago and my memory is fading fast I can remember the Baker brothers though all as different as chalk and cheese. Len was the oldest one and was the MD Charlie was in charge of the carpet dept and always had a fag on the go and instead of tapping it to get rid of the ash he would just blow it off with
  21. How funny it is that you can remember your mums divi number after all those years. Ours was 13920. We shopped at the co - op on Strelley road which was split up into 3 separate shops... Butchers, Greengrocery and then the main shop that sold everything else.
  22. Hi Catfan what was Wendy's surname and what dept did she work in ?
  23. Hi Dennis is your surname Stout and are you married to Doreen who worked there also? I remember when a big delivery came in they used to ask me to help to unload the lorries and I can remember struggling up those narrow back stairs trying to balance a single divan mattress. I used to like Thursday afternoons playing football for them in the Thursday league all travelling in the back of one of the lorries getting thrown about all over the place.
  24. Thanks for pointing that out . I did a quick search but obviously didn't look in the right place ,only been on the sight a week and still getting used to it.
