  6. #20 mick2 me used that one quite often mick, being a carlton lad we'd go to Elsies carlton hill her husband I believe was a copper. they was cooked to order in them days so you'd have ter wait quite a while but it was worth it. dart match nights in the nags head up the road they would fetch fritters from there to make fritter sandwiches at the end of the match, happy memories.
  7. I met my wife in Mablethorpe when on holiday with my mate and his family in 1956 and we are still together.
  8. I seem to remember there was photographers called Wraits or something similar. I remember the kids with there home made trolleys at mablethorpe station loading visitors cases and showing the way to the caravans, probably late fifties.

  19. When I leave the light on mrs Karlton comes in and says "its like electric showrooms in here." I know some people who sleep with the light on.
  20. #9 Denshaw I say house Den but its actually a bungalow, quite a bit of ground over the fence theres a dyke that drains the farmers field with a strip a yard wide that gets overgrown, the farmer only maintains the bottom of the dyke and his side so I have a strip 90ft long. bleddy nightmare.
  21. I seem to recall me dad doing a bit of steel erecting for george sands.. I believe the school nearby caught fire.
  22. I'm an L.N.E.R man myself. I remember well the carriages without corridors. I wonder what happened to those lovely pictures that were displayed above the seats. I was only a passed cleaner at Colwick loco but sometimes had the pleasure of firing those lovely engines. and sometimes a driver would let you drive an engine from the coaling plant into the sheds. what an experience for a lad of seventeen. on nights having a kip in a break van. sweet memories stay with yer forever.
