  1. The Forest/Liverpool match won't exactly be a family day out then. Probably best to avoid the City centre. What's wrong with so called football supporters?
  2. It was on the TV in the public bar last night. We moved into the lounge! I’m pleased they won though, just couldn’t sit through 90 minutes of it.
  3. An Apple a day keeps such problems at bay.
  4. That's a fact. Most people use them just for web browsing. A Chromebook or an ipad is more than adequate and conveniently portable.
  5. Don’t worry about the operating system. If it’s not on the current one it will upgrade as soon as you switch it on. All upgrades work seamlessly. Whilst PC users seem to struggle with upgrades there are none of those problems with Macs. When they become much older they are no longer upgradable but will still operate. When my existing iMac became ‘old’ I bought a Mac Mini. This is a Mac to which you can add your chosen monitor but will need a keyboard and a mouse. My Mini is running two monitors. If you enjoy playing with computers and like to do upgrades to sound, memory and general tinkeri
  6. As I've said previously I've used Macs ever since they came into the UK. I've used PC's so I do have a comparison. If you're a gamer then a PC is for you. I had mine for a flight simulator. If you want an easy life with something that works straight from the box then it has to be a Mac. They last much longer as well. I've just replaced my 10 year old iMac. It is still working but I wanted the latest model. They are more expensive but will outlast a PC and the updates are hassle free.
  7. I knew someone who took a Carter’s Liver Pill every day. When he passed away they had to beat his liver to death with a stick!
  8. I had a great aunt, Ethel Mayfield, who used to live on Mayfield Grove. Pure coincidence! One of my earliest memories was seeing her cellar flooded in the winter of 1947 when much of the Meadows were under water.
  9. The Russians have been banned from the Eurovision Song Contest. That’ll make them think twice!
  10. It grows wild in the countryside round here. It’s a bit like a dock with broad curly leaves. Dig it up, chop the large root and grind it. Add water, salt and vinegar. It’s much stronger than the bought stuff and will bring tears to your eyes!!
  11. I doubt it. I think you’ll need someone to push!
  12. I’ll help increase that number by saying ‘I don’t know’.
  13. I thought the world had ended, as prophesied, on 22.2.22 and I was the only survivor.
  14. I’ve just read that this date marks the return of Jesus and the end of the world. We wait expectantly.
  15. W. Hardy and Sons of Jericho Farm Lambley do have a website which may be of interest.
  16. I used to go flying with John Hardy some years ago. He kept a Piper Cub at Tollerton. He was a member of 'The Flying Farmers Association' so he was able to drop into various obscure airstrips of fellow members. I have a recollection of flying into a turkey farm near Collingham! I've not seen him for some years although I notice his airstrip is still active when I occasionally pass by.
  17. The only farmer I know in Lambley is John Hardy. He has a grass airstrip at the top of the hill on the Woodborough road.
  18. I often pass through Ompton. There’s a 40 mph speed limit on the busy main road through the village. Some years ago an enterprising villager set up a spoof yellow speed camera in his garden beside the road. The local authority didn’t like it but couldn’t do anything. When I passed by yesterday it was still there but looking a bit faded. I’m sure it has a deterrent effect though.
  19. That’s true. I’ve never been interested in popular culture. Innit!
  20. Sadly those who watch those shows represent a large proportion of the population. I sometimes wonder where I went wrong in not being able to join that group.
  21. There's a big basket of those on the hearth in our state dining room but I thought they were just there for decoration. They maybe part of my wife's witchcraft pursuits.
  22. Ah, the Michael Fish weather kit!
  23. There's always Michael McIntyre with 'The Wheel' or Danny Dyer with 'The Wall' if you’re looking for something more cerebral!
