  1. You’re probably right there, I have noticed a large amount of ignorance of what’s going on amongst many people. That’s why the virus is spreading like it is.
  2. What victims are we talking about?
  3. A country has to be run like an efficient business with due regard to all the all the people and their problems. We’ll never agree. It brought in a lot of East European criminals. I don’t think we exported many of ours.
  4. Have you not heard about the scheme to inject the population? It’s on the news and in all the papers.
  5. Good. At last you've stopped waffling. Succinct but wrong.
  6. I’m over 50. I’m not costing the country anything. I invested in pensions, I paid for my hip operation and the bastards are still charging me income tax. I’m helping to support the country as a result of the hard graft during my working life.
  7. Like I said before, lefties just ramble on and gripe. The trade unions by their greed have caused our manufacturing jobs to be exported to China.
  8. I voted Conservative. I voted to remain. I believe in democracy and accepted the decision.
  9. We live in a capitalist system. It will be thus for the foreseeable future. The the majority of people in this country are middle of the road politically, not lefties. I still contend that to run a country you’ve got to have experience in the world of business and commerce. Lefties don’t run businesses, they don’t understand about being entrepreneurial, they just ramble on and snipe at those in power and at those they work for. The problem with the present lot is that few have proper business experience, the labour party even less. Business and the profit motif provides the wealth of the nati
  10. Well at least I've given Col something to vent his spleen on! I stand by what I said though
  11. I don't feel nearly 78 Brenda - do you?
  12. As they are mainly political idealists I doubt they would have the management skills to run the country. Having said that I think the present lot are only marginally better. Clever people can get better rewards in industry and the professions.
  13. Oh dear, I’ll be 78 next week!
  14. They're daft enough to elect him. They elected Boris for Mayor!
  15. Hadrian's Wall's in England Barrie - on both sides!
  16. The words 'piss up and brewery' come to mind about those running the show
  17. That's right, Ribblesdale Rd., next door to the Masonic Lodge. Many years later I was asked about my joining the Freemasons by a flying club friend who was well into masonry. It all seemed a bit odd to me so I didn't take it up. I don't think its as active as it used to be, both the lodge and the Roxy are no longer standing.
  18. The toy and pram shops were in the block that went down to Burlington Rd., just below the Garden City pub, now called the Sherwood Manor. I don’t think I ever went to the Metropole but some of my friends went to ABC Minors there on a Saturday morning. My nearest cinema was the Roxy, just over Mansfield Rd. from the Vale Hotel. I do remember going to the one in Carrington, (was it the Curzon?) to see Rock Around the Clock with Bill Haley and the Comets. There used to be a filling station next to the Metropole and that became a supermarket. QuickSave was it? We were living on Park Rd. off Thacke
  19. I’m still tempted to let my flares off but I missed out on bonfire night and new year. I’ve since found another pack. I just have the vision of the Humber lifeboat coming up the Trent!
  20. I’ve just checked and discovered healthcare waste is not accepted at disposal sites but should be taken to a surgery. We’re going round in circles here. I still have a couple of boxes of outdated marine distress flares to dispose of. You can imagine the consternation it would cause if I took them to a police or fire station. I think I’ll leave them in a bucket of water fro a few weeks and then chuck them on my bonfire.
  21. I could imagine the consternation if I turned up to the waste disposal site with a box of used syringes. I was surprised that my surgery wouldn’t accept them as they must have to dispose of their own on a regular basis. Going online I was directed to a surgery for their disposal.
  22. An uncle of mine owned the pram shop and toy shop just over the road from the Metropole. The next we heard was that he'd emigrated with his family as ten pound poms.
  23. I had to self inject for a short time after my hip replacement. I had to stick a needle in my stomach. No problem at all. The biggest problem was the disposal of the sharps. The surgery couldn't accept them and referred me to the local authority. I wasn't prepared to be given the runaround so I set fire to them and put the debris in the bin.
  24. I’ll do it if I can stick the needle into their backsides from a distance of two metres.
  25. They’ll be saying that global warming is partially a natural phenomenon next.
