  1. Deteriorate is often pronounced as deteriate.
  2. @LizzieM I will try to remember to ask her about him. I remember Sue bringing him into the top playground one day when he was about 2 ! He was wearing a little quilted type snow suit: (why should I remember that I wonder)
  3. @philmayfield do you mean that Ant lived on Greys Road when he was an adult? He lived on Fisher Avenue when we were ‘going out’. Btw, I mentioned your name to Sue P last time I saw her and she said she remembered you! We are seeing her again on the day before the meet up. @MRS B Happy Birthday. Sorry I’m a bit late x
  4. Yes; I remember Peter Wright from Primary school, also his brother Anthony (I ‘went out’ with Ant when I was 15 and he was a year younger!)
  5. @trogg Sorry you’ve had an achy night but, as they say, ‘yer brung it on yersen’
  6. As we get older, we just have to learn to pace ourselves each day. I’ve written out a list of jobs I need/want to do in the near future and tick them off when they’re done ….. very satisfying. These jobs are extra to the usual housework type jobs btw and I’ve even cut down on these!! I fold the dry washing very carefully to avoid ironing, although a few things do still need it. My job today was washing a box of toy cars from the Toddler Group. I’ve done 5 boxes of other toys over the last week but still got lots more to do before they all return after half term. I quite like it
  7. I’d better change my style! Don’t want any nosybots looking at what I write but of course I can’t stop them! As I said before - it’s scary …..
  8. The one I was shown is different. I think it was chat.openai.com or something like that There is also another one called Jasper, which annoyingly now keeps popping up on my Facebook newsfeed!
  9. I suppose the bots are collecting information for the AI companies to use? Someone I know has registered with one of the AI sites and he showed me what it could do. Firstly he asked it to produce a short sermon on love and redemption. It took only a few seconds to do this and, in my opinion, it was really good. I then asked it to create a poem on seaside holidays in the 1950s. This took a little longer - about 15 seconds - presumably because it had to be a rhyming poem. It was excellent!! I haven’t registered on the site because even though it’s very clever stuff, it worries me……
  10. That’s very scary, Lizzie, Pleased he’s OK XX
  11. Col, are you still using a walking stick.
  12. CT Very interesting post. I love how we use language and also how the meaning of words has changed over the years
  13. My cousin lived at Retford and used to have a pig farm many years ago on Strawberry Road. I’ve mentioned before …. He had a huge traction engine, which I believe his son now has.
  14. Aah, Ben, so pleased you’ve discovered the photo. You’re nearly making me cry, too. My dad was in the Home Guard (but not Bulwell !!). He was based near Gainsborough.
  15. I agree - the article was very difficult to read because of the missing words on the right hand side.
  16. What a horrible experience for your daughter, Phil. It must have been unnerving for her being on that deserted floor of the car park. Good thing that mum and dad were able to come to her rescue!
  17. Col, your daughter’s design looks very pretty and I like the colour, but I fear it would need ironing. However, some people I know actually like doing ironing! You must be very proud of her success
  18. Brian, just keep on posting. Was your wife a Nottingham girl? Where did you meet her and how long were you married?
  19. Sorry for the loss of your wife, Brian. It must be very difficult losing a partner. I hope you’ll find what you’re looking for either on here or elsewhere .
  20. Good to see you posting again Trogg. You’ve been missed. Thankyou for my birthday greetings x
  21. David - none of the above
  22. Thanks to you all for the birthday greetings x I’m not really 80 - I think there ‘s been a mistake somewhere …. A glitch in time perhaps. Actually, I feel very blessed that I’m still here. God obviously still has more work for me to do! I hope this will be even more listening to people who need to share their problems, rather than hard physical work….. I’d prefer to leave that to the younger ones We’re going round one son’s house for supper this evening and going out for lunch on Saturday with our other son. Also, our daughter is on her way over here as I type.
  23. Hello Rosie. I know nothing about your life in Nottingham but notice that you now live in Cambs, like me. I was. brought up in Woodthorpe but moved to a village near Ely in 1976. Welcome to Nottstalgia.
  24. @mary1947 we had some ?fighter planes pass over us at about the same time! I presumed they were heading towards Mildenhall base …… also there was an army type helicopter heading the same way. No harm in being prepared I suppose
  25. The family obviously has a V obsession, but if that’s what they choose, then that’s fine. is your daughter a V as well?
