  1. Blue bags. I remember when I was younger and we used to go to see my grandparents in Barrow in Furness. We had to pass through many small villages and among them was a place that used to make these blue bags. Locals and us used to call this place The Blue Works and I cant remember where it was. Somewhere between the lakes and Barrow. Passing through the very narrow road everything was covered in this blue stuff, even the grass was blue. As kids we were fascinated by it and it seemed to be the highlight of the trip along with the Hoad in Ulveston on top of the hill.
  2. We had Max put to sleep a few years ago as he was very ill. Hes buried in our garden and Misty our dog now goes every evening with my husband to say goodnight. No matter how late it is when hes finished work he says " come on Misty lets go and see Max". Up she jumps and gets there before my husband. Faithful.
  3. Lots of talk about Skeggy and lovely photos taken there but I never went to Skegness until I was 16 and then it was with a hiking group. Coach trip there with group everyone to do what they wanted and pubs on the way home. Photos , Not got a lot of when we were young. My dad must have taken hundreds as he was a keen photographer and printed all his photos keeping all the negatives in a dressing table drawer. My brother found that he could unscrew the drawer knob and wee through the hole and finish putting the knob back on. It took my mum ages to find what the smell was.
  4. Just relaxing and catching up a bit after spending a day and a half at the hospital. Mum has fallen and broken her hip. Meal times are when and how and what . Yesterday morning all I had was water until I found time to go somewhere for breakfast. The restaurant in the hospital has closed down so had to go outside to a bar for a quick cappuccino and brioche. This morning I had 2 indian figs. Deliciously cold and very refreshing. Mum likes her crunchynut cornflakes every morning. They don't sell them here so I order from British Corner Shop and order more things I can't get here. She ran o

You have a lot of friends on here that you will be in their thoughts and they all wish you the best. If your husband doesn't bring you any decent goodies come down and we' ll feed you up. I repeat all the other comments and hope you dont have to stay there to much longer. A big hug xx
  8. Tonight I had some rainbow trout to cook so here goes what I did. First made a mixture of roasted pine nuts, chopped parsley, zest of a lemon and a sprinkling of parmesan. I oven baked the fish until almost cooked and spread the mixture on top and popped it back in the oven for a few minutes. Delicious.

  15. I started using postimages and found it so easy to use. I've not used it for a while but now it doesn't seem to work. Every time I want to post a photo all I get is a dot or else nothing and the cursor moves down a shade. I've tried every option including deleting and reinstalling. It won't accept my password so changed it and it still won't accept my old or new password. I can't really remember the sequence of selecting and posting but I do remember that it was so simple and intuitive so now I think I may be a bit dumb. I keep trying but it won't beat me. I don't give up that easily. Anyone e

Made some more jam today, peach and apricots mixed as I had some left and this afternoon some pear and cinnamon jam Then 5 jars of plums in syrup, just sterilised them and now waiting til cold to store them. Have tried to post some pics but have forgotten how to. Cant find anything on app to post them so maybe its not working properly.

  24. So sorry to hear about your daughter Gem. It really does make you want to say all the things you can think of. Of course it was her decision but think the hospital should keep in touch with her . Maybe she will decide in the future to have a prosthetic and I think the nurses should honour this decision. However I wish her all the best whichever decision she takes. I think nurses up to a point have to close their feelings and let a little bit of sympthy in.
