  1. So sorry to about the missing rainbow Margie, it maybe just an off day but if it isnt I know you have the strength of character to deal with it and come out of the other side with even more rainbows in your heart.
  2. Same as you Phil I went out and started painting the summer house, so then I went into the garage and pottered about. I will not watch the television.
  3. I know they are taking some bits out of me, maybe they have taken more out of me than they told me about, I am not to worried yet as all seems to be working OK, well okish.
  4. Just before my last op I was weighed and height was measured and I was informed that I was 3 inch shorter than the last time I time was measured . This growing old is no fun, so I intend enjoying myself when ever I can before I disappear completely,
  5. Glad you wrote that Beekay, I was going to write similar but decided against it.
  6. Must agree with you about Rod, I have 2 CDS on in my car all the time, Blood Red Roses and When We Were The New Boys,
  7. Broughs did have a garage opposite side of the road from Jennison Street now occupied by a van sales company. PS Beekay I also used to be a regular visitor to those drinking establishments that you mentioned.
  8. Thanks Phil I can now go back and concentrate on what I was doing. Its amazing what revives old memories,
  9. Ian Finn you have caused me a problem all I can do is try and remember the name of the garage on Main street As you said it was just past Jennison Street , it had a rear entrance for their cars down there. It holds memories for me as the wife and I were walking past the garage and I saw a MGA for sale which took my fancy, I started looking around the car and the wife announced dont bother we cannot afford it now as you are going to be a father. So no MGA a son instead, the end of my days of one of the lads about Town. The garage moved to the other end of Bulwell and started selling motor home
  10. Mispronunciation well try and live with my other half "please" she was born in uckna. There there is no H in the alphabet and the majority of words have been shortened to make them easier to say, even after 56 years of marriage I often have to say "repeat that in English please. Wherever you live there are different dialects.
  11. Just a guess Cliff Ton , as you go up the drive just before the Bestwood Lodge Hotel on the right Hand side is a large flat grassed area which the Fire Service had as a sports/ football area.
  12. Moving 2 by 2 slabs I found a easy way of moving 3 by 2 slabs that were the steps leading up to my lawn, a rather large hammer and then put the pieces into a wheel barrow and left on my drive for a nice man in a lorry to take them away with all the other sub soil etc I had to remove. Laying slabs of any size is to much for me ,so take it easy DJ ,as my wife and family keep telling me "you are an old man now", bless them ,it saves being in the house doing housework.
  13. Well yesterday was a sunny day for working in the garden, I started with scarifying the lawns ,nine full large bags taken straight to the recycling centre. Then it was given a weed feed and moss killer dressing followed by emptying chimney pots of plants and compost, refilled those ready for new plants. Onto moving 40 left over building blocks, unused from building a retaining wall, to a more suitable place for storage till I find a use for them. I then potted on 120 plug plants recently received , after cleaning tools and tidying up I thought it was turning cold so I packed in for the
  14. Thanks for the Joan Baez music DJ , I havent listen to her music for decades. I forgot how much I enjoyed her songs, I have just been on Amazon and ordered CDs Diamonds and Rust and Best of the Vanguard years.
  15. DJ I brought myself a battery powered self driven mower it is one of the smartest things I have done. I can control the speed at which I stumble along with it and no cables to trip over or cut , with my last mower being petrol no worry over if it will start. Altogether it makes a pain in the butt task a lot easier, I said easier not easy.
  16. Many thanks Plantfit, I will try that in future, the bike is oiled occasionally , I retrieved it today to pump up the tyres. I am unable to ride it as my left knee will not bend enough.
  17. Not sure where to post this , I use Postimages to post photos , but whatever I try they always seem to come out small. Can anyone show me the right way , thanks .
  18. Here is my bike a Raleigh Mustang, the wife brought it me for Christmas **** years ago. I used to ride it every where now it sits in my shed forgotten. 10 Years ago my grandson used it as his had a puncture and he was going out with his friends for the day on bikes. When he came back he said never again and named it the Tank, compared to his it was.
  19. My wife never said obey, even if she had she would not, but I have to or its the spare bedroom. lol
  20. Grandson came took out battery then reinstalled it , works OK. Many thanks to BK and Phil, there was many very small screws I would not have managed it , small screws and stiff fingers dont work well together.
  21. Found this on internet some time ago of when the Lace Market factories were working.
  22. I enquired about a new Tiguan delivery October, I will keep this one only 10,000 on the clock, I just want to spend my sons inheritance.
  23. I am leaving it to my grandson, he works in IT so with my fingers lately it’s safer with him .
  24. How’s my day? It startled off with a broken laptop. The power switch light is on but it will not start up or switch off, rather annoying as I have hardly used it for the last few months. My grandson is coming here soon to hopefully sort it out. I am doing this on my iPad and my fingers will not do what I want them to.
  25. Beautiful looking building for a factory. I had a wander around the Lace Market and found fantastic looking buildings. Most of these started life as factories,I understand the owners built the outsides in this way to try and outdo the other owners to show how much money they had. As factories what were the insides like for the workers. It’s well worth a wander around there if you ever have time.
