  1. I have a tattoo of Andy Capp on my right arm and Florrie on my left arm. These were done about 1960, somewhere on Alfred Street central, I believe. Florrie , on the left was done with two needles stuck in a cork and black ink, ( sure it was Zebrite black lead). Often been asked, do I regret it? The straight answer is NO, I knew what I were doing and never think about it at all now.
  2. As a kid my brothers and I used to love bread and condensed milk or golden syrup.

  8. Is that the one that was opposite to what is now Bramcote crematorium? If it is, I believe it to be Moor Farm. Had our son's 18th birthday bash there in 1985 (February). The bus we'd hired for our guests from Snape Wood, broke down on the way back at 11.30pm, near Bilborogh grammar school. It was snowing and bloody freezing.
  9. Or............."Better than a poke in the eye wi' a sharp stick".
  10. I had a look on some of those clips Ben, If I'd been one of those p.o. employees, I would have give that cameraman a smack in the mouth with his constitution.

  12. Maybe this should be in ' Made my day,' but it's going on here. Just to say " Hooray ! I'm right for once !! When I was a ranger at Holme Pierrpont, we used to go blackberrying down at the nature reserve, adjacent to the start of the rowing course. Used to get the fruit by the bucket load and ' Er indoors used to make apple and blackberry pies for all site staff. That were in 1978.

  16. Crikey SG., You like living in the fast lane dontcha. !
  17. Shouldn't use fresh horse manure on the garden, too much nitrogen in it. My dad use to collect it in sack and suspend in a tub of rainwater. A bit like an infusion. Probably leave for a couple of weeks before use. Which explains why you see signs outside stables, saying " Well Rotted Manure".
  18. I'm afraid there's very little we can do about that Jill. We just have to make do and do the best we can to improve our lot ! Also try and make a better world for those who follow us, although we're not a very good job at that. Take care.
  19. Is there anything you do like? Little sis. No meat, no dogs, no humans etc etc. Do you hug trees?
  20. The only riding I ever did was at a riding school that used be on Wollaton road, virtually opposite Glaisdale drive. Only went about three times though. That was when I was about 17, the only other riding before that was on pit ponies, when I were down Bestwood pit, as a ,' ganger,'.
  21. Talking of racecourses, for a short while I used to drive a St. John's ambulance on a voluntary basis. On the odd occasions, I used to be in attendance with ambulance on the course at Colwick racecourse. My job was, when the race started, I would have follow the runners on a parallel course round the track, between two designated points. I would sit with engine running until the horses were nearly level and then off I went to the end of my section, then another vehicle took over and I went back to my start. The idea being, if a jockey took a tumble,I would be there to pick him up and take hi
  22. I read somewhere that boxing hares were normally females fighting over a fella. Never had anybody fighting over me though.
  23. Hi Oz, Beeokay is a bloody good name for a hoss ! If I were there I'd put a bet on him for sure. You can't beat a 6d each way, now and again. Sorry to hear about the curfews etc down there, it sounds awful. When I said 'Martial Law' it was tongue in cheek but now I'm not so sure. Take care mate. Gudday!
  24. Katyjay, if you're reading this, I had a look on Youtube regarding rock art. Didn't realise it was such a big business, especially on your side of the pond. You can even get special tools and brushes for this type of work. Known as ,'Mandala dotting'. Thanks for the tip. Watch this space,or maybe Beekays paintings. Enough said for now, didn't want to interrupt.
  25. There was a sewing machine on Antiques roadshow last night. It was in the shape of a lion and looked just like a cast iron statue. When the front paws and legs were in place, covering the needle and arm, you would never know it was a sewing machine. Think it was valued at a couple of thousand quid.
