    Royal Hotel

Seem to recall it gained a reputation for various nefarious activities on more than one occasion.. Wasn't it temporarily closed when they had an influx of Arabs!
  2. Do remember getting my hands on what I presume was a BT engineer's code..free calls from boxes, four digits? Edit...Got, for me.. the dreaded blue box when typing, after quoting Stuart's input.. I won't persue it further.. it will only get worse... hope this still makes some sense!
  3. I'd love to buy them! Thing is I dare not! Hope you don't mind me asking? Are any of them UFO or Planet of the Apes? With a mini jigsaw piece on the flipside?
  4. Interesting..I had a 94 year old neighbour called Ida who sadly died 8 year's ago. My newish neighbours have a child of the same name aged two! When I looked into my family tree I found lots of Eliza's and Elizabeth's, not one Victoria, thought this a little strange considering it was the Victorian era. Edit.. also, quite a few Mary's, more often than not, followed by the second name Ann.
  5. Perhaps the iPad has a iPlayer monthly subscription..
  6. The live TV loophole was made redundant about 5 years ago. If I remember correctly the only workaround now is if you record a +1 channel and then watch it later.. A simple BBC ' in-out' clause would be the answer..but agree with Brew..be careful what you wish for! I would hate not to fast forward the adverts on the other approx 100 channels. Sky football, BT joined in, now Amazon.. Do you have to buy a subscription to all three?
  7. 60 mile round trip. taxi home. sadly most pub's closed. as a teen it used to be handy to escape for a few hours. However amazed how many 'chippies' were open nowdays, is kebab meat the new turkey?
  8. Isn't the licence fee under review and likely to be scrapped ? . I often wonder if paying the Beeb monthly, which is more expensive, or the upfront bung on which they can earn interest is more rewarding.
  9. Solar sensor lights came on at 2.15 pm yesterday, easily a record...things can only get better..
  10. Always fascinated me that 'trough'...when I left Nottingham in '97 I think it was was 'untouched' ..step out the bus station..wow! If I remember correctly the right hand side was like a rock face..a little more than spoil.. ....after all the ingenuity and work why couldn't such things be incorporated into modern infrastructure...
  11. Found it amusing, Boris quoting how important the NHS is, and how much it has served him in the past..I wonder what percentage of MPs use it..,
  12. I'm glad I couldn't 'see' it..Ludicrous!!
  13. possibly .. hopefully, could be leaving with no deal.. . Should have a few more hot dinners DJ, I think you'll prefer Brussels warm..... Have been a Labour party member for nearly 40 years....hmmmm..
  14. Amazing lack of detail.. 3 words..considering such a lengthy post, not interested in a median..of a median While both convenient.. are cars a necessity nowdays? or should they be considered a luxury like a smart mobile phone?
  15. Food Banks anyone? After such a long post...why is this only 3 words long? The definition of poverty & the users of food banks surely deserves more expansion.
  16. Yes and no.Jezza not doing the honourable thing! is leaving me a few grand short...
  17. Wasn't familiar with Morgan.. disgraceful. I wish the existence of the house of lord's was put to a referendum.. Relating to buzz phrase's ..Algorithm's were employed by the Boris team, simplified, keep saying the same thing and people will believe it. Haven't we heard that before about 80 years ago.....? I was all for TV debates etc..circa 2010, I now feel, the less exposure the better. Politics and people's futures should be exempt from the media circus.
  18. Does Elvis & the bus pass party still stand in Nottingham East? Has to be one of the safest Labour seat's in the Midlands.
  19. The bets I placed and who I voted for were different. How does a bet affect who you vote for? Interpretating cold hard facts is is a ...fact..
  20. Appears I have won a small fortune on this outcome. Corbyn gone before the new year, at 5-2 in August. .main spread bets, Tory majority at 60 -80, if it's 68 I have won the lottery ..almost.. Mixed emotions..I have never voted Conservative..
  21. Great post Geoff.. I have a lovely old cue, given to me in Nottingham when I was seven.just over 52 years ago. Old boy, was a friend of dad, he was given it by his friends widow thus his 'spare'. it was manufactured at the Leeds billiard works. The case was made at the Radford Billiard works, Nottingham. Has what appears to be a copper oval plate stating thus. The Case, i'm guessing is made of tin, and has a partial cork lining. ,
  22. Why do so many people on here vote by post? Thought the Peterborough by-election was unique..
  23. Fully intended voting the Brexit Party this time. However i was unhappy when they stood down Candidates in Conservative seats..due to some extra addition to the deal Boris negotiated with Nigel. Farage now claims an element of sceptism about Johnson's addition..i don't recall any negotiatons with the EU in either case. normal service resumed..
  24. No bias or agenda, but does anybody know the 'increase' in the numbers of barge dwellers & homeless in the Uxbridge constituency over the last few weeks ?
