Michael Booth 7,364
Clifton Miners Welfare Institute had to change it's name to Clifton Miners Social Club when it lost the sponsorship of the Coal Board. It's now classed as a charity and has to do things for the community. My eldest son went there for a football presentation.
Moobug 3
When I was a kid (which I suppose isn't that long ago) my dad used to meet my grandad for a pint, but my brother and I were NOT allowed inside - we had to sit at the outdoor tables or play in a play area. If we wanted to speak to them, we had to stand in the doorway to the bar area and try to get their attention. I was told it was the law, but I suspect my dad knew we wouldn't question it!

Compo 10,334
I'm glad kids are allowed in pubs - it has stopped me going out and spending a fortune on drink.
catfan 14,799
Just been shopping to Tesco with Mrs Catfan & called in at Wetherspoons for a cup of coffee. .... 24
My second was in Victoria Centre at one of the cafés in the market. To be fair, the all day breakfasts in the big cafe at the back are not to be sniffed at.
