TGC 216
when I poddled inot Morris Ward for me pre ticker op angiogram, I could sense the pressure the staff were under. Next day they woke me at 0530hrs to tell me the bed was needed for an emergency, so they were letting me go home (to an empty house). I had to ring me Brother-in-law, waking im up at that time was not appreciated, to come and give me a lift home. He arrived bleary eyed - and as we were leaving they gave me a leaflet on what would happen during the procedure I'd just had! After the ticker op later, they said I would be in for 5 days. On the third day, the nurses came again and told me they needed the bed for an incoming emergency - at least it was not early morning when I rang me brother-in-law Pete this time. Had to evacuate the bed, and sit in a reading area for three hours before they arrived - all the time naturally in pain - but more importantly again I noticed the pressure in the staffs faces and voices. Three of the six in the ward section didn't make it. We'd swapped emails and addresses, and I felt horrible getting the messages back from the two that replied (relatives) after I'd contacted them to see how they were. I think the high rate of patients not pulling through must prey on the staffs minds perhaps - bless 'em.
catfan 14,793
Now there's a coincidence Gerry, I was on Morris Ward for my stay, saw some very ill people there too. Got to go back in soon for another Angiogram, the first one was unsuccessful, the next one is via the femoral artery in the groin. Good luck Gerry.

carni 10,094
I was just in the Kitchen cooking away, singing Land Of Hope and Glory at the top of my voice, making (Sos and Mash) by request from my family, who descend on me every Monday for Dinner. And then it came! The unexpected phone call from The hospital! Oh My Goodness, you have never seen anyone go to pieces as quick as i did. The long awaited Op on my Dicky Ticker, I was informed is about to actually happen, on Friday 8th August. Oooerr. How can you dread and want something at the same time! That's me, now it is finally going to happen, So sorry if I talk a load of rubbish for the next two weeks, but I have a little something on my mind! What did you say, I do anyway.
