Guest Anne
Yes..that's it..TB Forums (Trent Bridge School Forums) Now I shall sleep tonight! I can't believe you changed to Nottstalgia at the end of 2004 though. I've bin wondering why you were all on about the wobbly 'N'. Now I know thanks..how much did Council pay for it????? Stan 386
Rumours were around 96,000 pounds Anne, but a mere nothing compared to this!!! There was more embarrassment for the organisers of the London 2012 Olympics last night when animated footage had to be removed from its website after claims that it could trigger seizures. The logo was designed at a cost of £400,000 The setback came amid an avalanche of criticism for London 2012 over its official logo for the Games, designed at a cost of £400,000 to attract the "internet generation" but dismissed by one expert as a "puerile mess". Stan 386
One user added: "To me it represents two drunks trying to help each other up off the ground - very British indeed."
Guest Anne
Well...it just goes from bad to worse doesn't it.. I see the wobbly N is back..I couldn't see it before. Between the two things...what a complete waste of money. How on earth do they justify spending all that money on it!! Someone must have gone home with a smile on their fact and a hefty cheque in their pocket! Mind you..we do do stupid money wasting things like that here too.. a favourite one is to bring in a consultant from 'out of town' who tells them for an expensive fee what they already know and won't use anyway!!! Guest Anne
Where has the most money been wasted in Nottingham throughout the years! I'd be really interested in knowing what you think.

Guest Anne
Thanks Admin. I don't know where the first photo was taken but it's a good one. I love the old lady with her purse! Is she going out onto Parliament St I wonder. The Flying Horse I remember well..it was facing the side of the Council House, just round the corner from Exchange Walk..I used to walk down EX every day to Hounds Gate where I worked in the office of Wm Dixon. Way way back Trippett's was right on the corner I think. You're right the Flying Horse was a fine old building..but is it still there? Wot's this about gay pubs? Is the Flying Horse one and if it is...where are the others in Nottingham? !!
Guest Anne
Ahh..I guess the Flying Horse is sadly no more then..what a shame..there's probably summat about that in Pubs Closing I bet.
Limey 242
The building is still there, but it hasn't been a pub for a long time (1980's?). It is now a sort of mini-mall! Had a few pints there in my time - always being sure to keep my back to the wall!
Guest Anne
Well at least that's something if the building is still there. It's a beautiful old building (or was when I knew it) and I've had a few drinks in there in my time anall. Remember I used to work in Hounds Gate!.. I remember the old courtyard and you could sit there and go back in time. I think they used to use it for a stop over for horses and an inn..or am I wrong? I remember the courtyard was all white in my time. Back to the wall....ahh..I get it LOL
Limey 242
Back to the wall....ahh..I get it LOL Yep - as mentioned elsewhere, the Flyin 'Orse did have a reputation for attracting members of..... lets say the third sex - of which I had no intention of becoming a member! Beefsteak 305
The building is still there, but it hasn't been a pub for a long time (1980's?). It is now a sort of mini-mall!Had a few pints there in my time - always being sure to keep my back to the wall! It was converted in about 87/88 .If you look outside and up you can see a large white canopy ,well I delivered that ( Rubbish claim to fame) Now there's an idea for a new topic
Guest Anne
I'm surprised it was converted as far back as the late 80's. Beefsteak..I think your claim to fame delivering the white canopy is great. Can any-one beat that? I once had a poem printed in the Nottingham Evening Post..that was my 15 minutes in the spotlight..it was about Nottingham of course!
mick2me 3,033
Lets see it?
Guest Anne
Looking Back Along the cobblestone streets we wandered, Dark was the night yet still we sauntered, Through the windows of a pub a fire burned bright Keeping those inside warm on this cold frosty night. We were young and happy in those carefree days We'd no cares in the world..only young eyes to gaze This was our first love and it thrilled our very heart Love would last forever.or so we both thought. Holding hands we listened as Little John struck nine The sound echoed loudly, should we go and perhaps dine Should we walk to the castle or go in The Bell The Salutation or Trip we are alone can you tell. The moon beams down brightly from high in the sky Stars twinkled abound but no eyes could they pry As the Milky Way and Big Dipper light our way home In the pale moonlight shining there's Little John's dome What magic there is in this glorious time past Innocent lives and we thought it would last Nothing is forever only young ones think that Now we're older and wiser the die has been cast. I never thought I could do before. Wow again...you actually delivered an answering machine to Charlie Drake.. did you get to talk to him? That would count as your 15minutes of fame I'm sure.
