taxi ray 170
Not sure what it is your looking for but did find these http://www.geograph.....php?i=28686158 Looking at the photos on your link, the steel bridge that was at the bottom of trent lane, was removed in about 1987 or 1988, I was working on that job, the main spans were lifted out over a saturday night. They dont make them like that anymore.

Ashley 288
Thanks all, Did have (still do somewhere) a section of a 26inch to mile map of the crossing area clearly showing that and the 3 bridges, remember going under them and being amazed at the "tunnel" effect of one, so long it had street light(s) in it, would have beeen about 1963 when trainspotting/railways not one of my interests also recall the bridge on the Midland route that went through West Bridgeford
denshaw 2,878
The map also shows where Colwick Pleasure park used to be.
Cliff Ton 10,529
I haven't come across a photo of the whole run of three bridges, but here's a Pic the Past of the short stretch of road between two bridges And those houses are/were here....... must've been a really quiet peaceful little spot
mick2me 3,033
You could get the right hand property for a song? Nice little fixer-upper? I was trying to visualize where the Magpies pub was on your map Cliff?
Cliff Ton 10,529
On the map above, the Magpies was roughly on the inside of the junction of Meadow Lane/Daleside Road (ie between the words Clothing Factory and Lane)
mick2me 3,033
I remember Crossing Gates under a Bridge. Was that Meadow lane or further along Daleside Road (Road name?)
Ashley 288
yes, seen that pic before, about the only one I have though, I reckon that detached house was a semi? maybe even end of terrace? Seem to recall the "tunnel" I referred to was more of an arch type bridge with less headroom and maybe some old cast iron type traffic sign at least at western end? maybe a give way one? think that photo took from track bed of it? Re the crossing under the bridge, think that was the still there Trent Lane one
mick2me 3,033
I think you are right Ash. Any pics maps of Trent Lane Xing?
Ashley 288
Bit of a long view but it shows all 3 routes still in place, the nearest bridge is that of The Nottingham Suburban up (to Nottm) single line, this joined the lines on other bridge seen through the arch, The Great Northern's, whilst the still there (but now only for pedestrians) crossing was over the Midland Railway, That arch is still there and the stone supports of the GNR bridge remain. The bridge in Cliff Ton's photo was the middle one of the 3 east of Meadow Lane crossing, also the last built to carry the GNR via London Rd High Level Station to and from Weekday Cross junction then Victoria Station, (Great Central Trains also used the same route)
mick2me 3,033
Thanks for that, which way are we looking?
mick2me 3,033
I see Trent lane from direction of Daleside Rd
Ashley 288
yes, you can see former GNR bridge support to right of red car (in the arch) and left hand support of it above chippings (blue brick) where that car is parked at right angles to the road is a path up to the former NSR route now a walk, used to be able to get to remains of other bridges but not sure if now built on? mick2me 3,033
Ash The chippings you mention are the remains of the Co-op Laundry.
mick2me 3,033
If you would like to see a 3D interpretation of the area just east of Trent Lane, come along to the Nottingham Model Railway Exhibition at Harvey Hadden Sports Centre on 17th-18th March. There will be a display with two part completed baseboards from Nottingham Model Railway Societies' under construction layout. Further information here: http://www.nottingha.../exhibmain1.htm Thank You Ravintrainman. I have split your original post as it deserves a Topic of its own. It is worth putting it on our Calendar

Doesn't show the bridges of the GC/GN line to Weekday Cross or The London North Western but the lines after are shown, Can see The Midland Station, London Road Low Level and even The GCR Viaduct
