Richard Coleman, then, perhaps?! Miss Allsopp's saying was "5 star choss" (as in chaos). I did French O and A Level so she taught me for a number of years and she was a lovely person and a good teacher -
A big cheese fan! We had Colwick cheese at home - delicious, with the cucumber and onion in vinegar. My Mum was quite adventurous for those days, so we had Gorgonzola and Dolcelatte when she could afford them. Now I love Brie, Strong Cheddar, Feta, Goats Cheese and Manchego

The German teacher was Mr Nielson, whose death was mentioned in the Post a little while back . Have thought about it and Phillip Stott was in the same class as me 3rd year onwards., I was in the German class in the 3rd Year (3G) and did German O and A Level. I actually remember some of the boys register from the 1st and 2nd Year, as it was read out twice a day and has stuck in my mind, for some reason! Bark, Cash, Coleman, Dexter, Forbes, French, Jackson, Layer, Pratt, Sharpe, Smales, Smith, Wade! I remember all the girls you mention. Think you mean Jackie Cole -

Both my parents passed to go to Grammar School (early 30's), but neither set of parents could afford the uniform, so both went to normal Secondary school. Uniform rules were strict for us at Bilborough Grammar, and, apart from the day-to day uniform (summer and winter versions), we also had to have a special outfit for PE (Grecian Tunic, with matching knickers!), a Hockey kit, a science overall, DS Apron etc. Some pupils got their uniforms 2nd hand from the school -

Had forgotten about Mr Chollerton, but he taught me for 1st and perhaps 2nd year. Still didn't enjoy the subject! -

Good to see the old 56. Used it all the time, as well as the 60, but 56 took me nearer to home -

Read You must have been in the same year as me. I remember Mr Bland but dropped Biology as soon as poss, because I hated it. The other DS teacher was Miss Donaldson, later Mrs Payne. In such an academic school, she used to really annoy us by saying things like "You'll never get a man, girls, unless you can cook!" Phillip Stott was in my class for 1st and 2nd year, but no idea what happened to him. Think he would be described as a geek, these days! -

You're both slightly younger than me, then. Without a surname, it will be difficult!

Geo E Butcher Ltd, 12 Smithy Row, was wound up sometime between Aug 1906 and Aug 1907 "by reason of it's liabilities" (London Gazette) -
Karlsruhe was twinned with Nottingham when I was at school in the 70's - don't know whether it still is. Perhaps something to do with the naming of the building

But our players just don't have the skills and desire to win like most of the European teams
