The bullies were the ones to give you a cruel nickname werent they , a geeky lad with glasses at school got called joe 90, and they'd often poke fun at my surname sheridan , they would call me shekribat for some reason ,
Another bully was aptly named in Timothy large , a big fat bellied kid would always track me down for a spot of bullying !

We have been asked to keep this in the appropriate thread... Let's play nice and do as we are told...
If we all did as we were told , what a boring and oppresed life that would be.

Do you know, Freda avenue has jogged me memory a bit more.
Once upon a time, when I worked at SPD, I went out on Birds Eye delivery run. I had a 'home freezer' drop at a private house on Freda, (we used to deliver to private homes on 'freezer drops). When I pulled away from the house all my bloody load tipped and fell against the back of the van. The load was all stacked in parcels by the night shift and each parcel had the docket delivery number. It took me ages to get the door open and the drops sorted out. The things you recall, when reminded.
It shouldnt happen to a freezer van driver , when's the book publish ???

A potential mismatch of memories
Think it was Leeds, match called off, League Cup Semi..due to fog..Leeds fan's, barking like rabid dogs, at the bridgeford end, their buses behind..
Did away fan's buses go down such a narrow corridor?
Does my memory serve?
QPR
Hmm... fog..thinking might be the called off memory, FA cup
Quarter Final?
Bottles flying at QPR,
home and the replay...that I can recall..
@HSR i remember when i was at bilborough school players, it was Chelsea v Leeds united in the F A cup final in the 70s

Alpha, I've always thought your posts quite erudite, though I disagree with a lot of it.
This latest diatribe however is, quite frankly, nothing more than assumptive nonsense, and you entirely miss the point.
As for protesting abroad, you obviously forgot that there were peace camps, protests, blockades and marches all across Europe at the time.
CND organised the human chain from Aldermaston to Greenham. But the peace camp, as far as I can recall, was purely down to the women in the peace camp. And quite frankly, only women had the stamina to keep it going for 19 years in my view.
Did they win? Did they fail? I don't know, but they committed a big part of their lives to something they believed in, i.e., they got off their arses, and right or wrong, actually did something.
But most of them were either hippies, drop outs or communist trying to bring the country to a stand still , their arses could of be used to something more useful like cooking the old mans tea.
