  1. No not that one. a dentist named Paul Wynds ran that place. It has changed hands a few times since then, I used to go there at that time. Strangely enough I go back there now, went last night or a check up !
  2. I remember her, I think her surgery was on Cantrell Rd, but I could be wrong. She apparently was "struck off ", I can't remember exactly what for, I have a vague idea but don't want to say in case I am wrong, but it was quite serious.
  3. 56 terminated @ top of Wigman Rd, 60 @ Stotfield Rd ( I think ? ) & the 13 @ Glaisdale Dr.
  4. They are all out to rob us blind. be it car insurance, AA breakdown or Telecoms providers. Ask for, no don't ask for, DEMAND a better deal or you are walking, you would be surprised what the will offer.

    Ainsley Estate

I also echo your sentiments Michael. Full credit to Poobear & Cliff Ton once again for their in depth knowledge !!!
  6. I have often wondered about paying this place a visit, but access is a "No No" I understand. Well dragging Mrs Catfan to Renishaw Hall near Chesterfield this morning for a day out, I noticed a sign outside the old church at Annesley Hall, as part of the English Heritage open day all is open. On Saturday permission has been granted for visitors to enter Annesley Hall land & take a closer look at Annesley Hall itself BUT NOT TO ENTER THE HALL DUE TO THE UNSAFE STRUCTURE. This could be a rare opportunity for the general public to get a close look at the hall itself. Anyway here's Mrs Cat
  7. Funnily enough I noticed the parking ! You wouldn't get away with that nowadays with the hired Gestapo on hand.
  8. I well remember in the 90s when the Co-op introduced the dividend card. Overnight you could see the prices rising to pay for the dividend ! Co-op management really thought the shopping public must have been really stupid not to notice. A great pity, the Co-op were a fine company for many years.
  9. The Green Mile star died after a massive heart attack. At 54, far too young. RIP. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Clarke_Duncan

  13. The Grey Goose on Arnold Lane is having a care home built on the site.
  14. Loony labour council that's why !
  15. I also only ventured in there once, a really depressing place. The place would go silent if a stranger walked in !!! The nickname "Swinger" goes back to the tram days when the poles were swung around at the nearby tram terminus. I THINK !!
  16. Twas the Forest Hotel ! Well done Stu. Now owned by a local double glazing Co who also bought & extended the garage next door.
  17. On a family holiday to the USA years ago, I couldn't get my head around the thing that the Americans ate donuts for breakfast !!!
  18. Weren't looking for a fun day out. Intended to visit an historical building but there was not a lot to see there, I still maintain it was a rip-off. Also at that time photography wasn't permitted indoors, good job really as there was very little to photograph. How can you compare a twenty first century admission fee, to the living cost of people all those years ago is beyond me. Places like this & other historic buildings are tourist attractions, different people have different ideas why they go & visit. Not everyone is looking for a "fun day" out as you put it. Better still, kn
