  2. I'd say that picture was taken outside the Ace Motercycle Cafe in London. Passed by there just before Xmas and popped in for a cup of tea and bacon sarnie on the way back
  3. Forgive me for being ignorant Ayup but, "deep hard" and "softhard" ? They go straight over my head, and i am asking out of interest here, also what is Blackshale? Obviously its a name for coal but why?
  4. I sent you a pm before i read this mick. I was with you at most of the places you mentioned. One place you didn't mention was Rushcliffe leisure centre, was it you that got Krokus to play there or something like that?

  7. FFS firbeck, get rid of that chip on your shoulder. I enjoy most of your posts and even agree with some of them but then you go on one of your tantrums and expect us to agree with you. If we don't' then in your eyes we are as bad as the people you have been calling. By the way, i go hunting and shooting so there's some ammunition for you. !sleeping!
  8. Im sure i read somewhere that they are supposed to resemble cannons standing on end with the cannonball on top. Thats why they all pretty much look the same.
  9. There are currently over 1 million subscribers to this internet game including my good self. What has this got to do with Nottingham? Well the games founder and still current owner is from Nottingham. He celebrated his 30th birthday on 3/12/08. He started this company in his bedroom at his parents house. He was educated at Beckett school and later went to Cambridge Uni' where his company is now based. As the project grew his brother came on board. Their names?....Andrew and Paul Gower and as at 2007 they were worth £106million between them. Well done lads and i can't fault you. Not bad for 9 ye
  10. that should say "It's your move"
  11. The film is called "Its y move" 1982 !jumping!
  12. Thats nothing, I know somebody whose house not only fell in the sea but also floated off into the horizon coming to rest on the shores of Jamaica. I've heard that it has now been turned into a beach bar, which is nice. !laughing!
  13. Well i've just looked in my cupboard and noticed that i've got the worlds first prototype V.C.R. still in it's original box, which was nice! I'm sure that my best mates uncles dad who once said hello to Winston Churchill of all people was the person who gave it to me. !laughing!

    RULES!

The problem with overquoting is easily sorted. Remove the option to do it. Not once have i used this option and have never felt the need to do so. The post No. can always be used as a ref' to a quote if need be. Its as simple as that. P.S. With all this quoting it means l'm reading the same posts over and over again.
  15. Time to remember the 5th of November.....Light up the sky with Standerd Fireworks.
  16. If i had an Elephant Firbeck would have a box big enough to put it in. !laughing!
  17. I did some work for Audrey at her house, she lived in bingham or still does, what a lovely lady. Her husband had not long died and i think she wanted the company more than anything else. Beefy she was a better cook at home than she ever was at the cafe, im sure i finished the work 3 stone heavier. She retired and sold the cafe to an Egyptian feller who wasted no time in ruining the place.
  18. I think that there are still gaslights in certain parts of the Park behind the castle, or at least the original pillars.
  19. This is a question from a reader in the answers to correspondents page in the Dailly mail. "Looking on Google Earth, i see a complex of bunkers and revetments partially hidden in the woods a mile south-west of Castle Ashby near Northampton. Why are they there?" Ive had a look and they look like something to do with explosives although i`m waiting to be corrected. There is a similar set up near the Alfreton train station and i know thats an explosives factory. It would be nice to get the answer from some of the clever sods on this site before it appears in the paper.
  20. Frank Wheldon was the guy who started the dairy. It was his family that ran it in later times. As i remember it was ran has you`d expect a small family firm to be run, employees getting looked after ect. AFAIK Frank did a lot of good around the carlton area and was highly thought of, i`ll have to get in touch with a few people and find out more for you, sorry about that. There is a Frank Wheldon school website, maybe that will tell you more, but knowing you, you'll have already been on it.
  21. Did any of you have your milk from this company based on Carlton Hill, my dad use to work there before he moved on to Players. Back in the days when all other dairys had electric floats Wheldons milkmen were whizzing around in green Ford transits. Maybe i delivered your morning pinta a time or two because i used to help him at the weekends for the grand sum of a fiver a day pocket money. You`d never mix up Wheldons bottles with others coz their tops were about twice the size of other bottles.
  22. well i never thought i'd say this but i agree with you firbeck. I don't know if you've been to EMRC recently but my guess is you would not find much has changed. They have about half a dozen projects on the go at any one time and never seem to finish one of them. They get half way through, get bored and then start something else, i've seen better looking bombsites to be honest. The Princess Margaret is also based there and is another asset wasted.
  23. I shall treat that comment with the contempt it deserves. lol. Do you work for the local rag Robt P.? You've edited my words to make it look bad, not that i can fault you though !laughing!
