  7. Surrey has so many trees. Each autumn the street sweeper would clean the roads of leaves and then dump them in a huge pile at the allotments. You helped yourself to the mulch. Much schlepping with a wheelbarrow to put the leaves on the allotment, to sit through the winter. Free, but hard work. Between that, walking everywhere and living in a 3 storey townhouse, I never had to worry about putting on weight!
  8. When we lived in West Byfleet, we had an allotment. Put our name down on the waiting list and got one quite quickly. We soon had it shipshape and planted out. Once everything was established we'd walk down each evening, 3 kids in tow, hoe and wheelbarrow (no shed for storage) and water everything. It was a communal tap, no hose pipes allowed, so a lot of filling watering cans and carrying them. We'd pull weeds and pick produce. Of all the things we grew, runner and French beans did the best and we picked them just about every evening, then I would cut, blanche and freeze. Our beans laste
  9. Just finished watching All The Light We Cannot See on Netflix. A 4 part series based on the book of the same title. It was excellent.
  10. Actually, I just counted the kids on my infants class photo, and there were 42. There were 2 infants schools at Crane. 2 classes per year in each. By the time we moved to junior girls and senior girls each with 4 streams per year, the classes were around 30 pupils.

  12. DJ, I thimk her accent was the thickest. Meg's son Sandy was in a wheelchair later on, wasn't he genuinely using it through illness?
  13. Used to watch it, but it was my first taste of the Brummie accent and have disliked it since! Now there's a Brummie on the baking show!
  14. The estate I was raised on, built 1933, had buses.
  15. Once you are over 65 in Arizona, you renew every 5 years. $10. No extra for postage.

  19. That I couldn't tell you Beekay. I only saw their pics on FB, looked like maybe 15-20 of them, at least 1 with a cane so I bet she rode with you. My friend belongs to Micheldene WI so that's why I see their activities.
  20. @Beekaydid you work either yesterday or today? My friend in East Dean is in the W.I there and a large group of then went to Sheffield Park. The pictures were lovely.
