  1. I open the tin by using the can opener both ends, then push the thin end out the thick end. Voila.
  2. Hubby always chooses Eggs Benedict on cruises, as the kitchen has poached eggs done perfectly.
  3. Every time I see a post mentioning the Linga Longa fish and chip shop, I think back to our newly married life. We bought a new-build bungalow in Langar. We didn't have a street number, just a plot number, so decided to name the house. While thinking up names, we joked we could call it Linger Longer. Langar.
  4. I am seen Love Actually several times and love it.
  5. I never knew Rowan Atkinson played Maigret, but I have seen The Thin Blue Line which is brilliant!
  6. I lived on Concord's flight path when living in Surrey, we knew the sound of it approaching and went outside twice a day to watch it come over. Also we took our visitors to Heathrow to watch it take off. This is in the days when you could go on the parking garage roof and watch it. Magnificent sight.
  7. I was once told my an appliance engineer, never, ever, leave a dishwasher, washing machine or dryer on, when you are in bed or gone out. A lot can go wrong in your absence.
  8. And you are reading it because...............?
  9. #DJ360 where are you going on your cruise? Somewhere nice and warm I hope?
  10. I always want to shout 'well, we can't go backwards!'
  11. Escape.... Is the only unscripted Brit programme we watch. Can't believe how many people say Everythink.
  12. Fantastic (Escape to the Country)
  13. So he showed you his nuts, eh? Mmm. Going back to the big planes, I can never figure out how a big plane can take off and stay up there with all that weight! 747's particularly. So when they first rolled out the 380 I said, you'll never get me on one of those! Guess what we flew to Seoul on? Yep, and it stayed up there! It was tge quietest plane we've been on.
  14. When we first came to Arizona, the Phoenix area used the bitter orange trees for landscaping freeways and main roads. Of course, nobody wanted to eat these oranges so the fruit would drop off and eventually the landscapers would remove the dropped fruit. I would see this wasted fruit and think of my dad. He made his own marmalade from Seville oranges and would have loved the wasted fruit. You don't see these trees anymore, replaced by regular trees now, dropped fruit brings rats. we don't see orange groves, corn fields and cotton fields either, just about all built on now. When we came almost
  15. I like porridge. I quadruple my ingredients, and divide between 6 Tupperware containers. I add a bit of brown sugar (or golden syrup) a tablespoon of chopped walnuts and tablespoon of raisins. 6 portions are big enough a portion nowadays. Fridge 5 and eat 1 that day. Then zap the others as needed. Only one saucepan to wash this way.
  16. Used to love hot milk on Shredded Wheat.
  17. Didn't Frankie Laine sing Champion the Wonder Horse?
  18. Same for me with Lassie and Champion the Wonder Horse. The barking and whinnying got on my mother's nerves.
  19. I remember getting our first colour TV a few years after we married. Not many programmes were in colour though.
  20. There's a joke about that. 2 Jehovah Witnesses rang a door bell, the old fella opens the door to them. "Good morning, we want to talk to you about our religion " one says. Short on visitors, the old man welcomes them inside. He sits them down on the settee, sits opposite them and says, "OK, what do you want to tell me?" They reply, "We don't know. We've never got this far before!"
  21. The same happens over here. No end of friends, over the years, have sent cash or a gift card to grandkids, inside a card, and they never get it. Sometimes the card comes, opened. As my mother would say, thieving gits.
  22. Lizzie, I correspond with Trevor S regularly, and Michael Booth is a FB friend, so both are still above the grass, so to speak!
  23. Here it will reach 70 today. No complaints about that, it has been a cold (for the desert) 3 weeks this December. Merry Christmas one and all.
  24. Loppy, hubby has a friend in Athens GA and said, he knew it would get cold but not this cold!
