  1. I remember my mum taking my brother and I to see the wrestling at the Victoria baths, top of the bill, were Mick McManus and Billy Two rivers. At one point, I thought my mum was going to jump in the ring and sort out Mr' McManus.
  2. Another guy who gave us so much great music from our youth.RIP,and thank you.
  3. Hi Babs, my begging letter is on the way to you.
  4. Imagine that Dave,it's used in a small part of Florida as well.
  5. Hi Babs,go get em'gal, you are proof of my post above,my faith in the English character. Give my regards to Dave, hope you are both well.
  6. Nice to read your post Carni, brings back memories of hours spent walking along the canal towpath from Beeston to Nottingham as a kid.
  7. I read the above posts with sadness, the spirit of the English people seems to be almost broken. As an historian,I am constantly reading about the past, and it occurs to me that what has happened to England began after WW1. The working class had taken the brunt of the war,the trust was gone in the leadership. The workers had the broken promises of the government, and by 1924 had organised 'trade unions',in an attempt to protect the working class from the pre-war days. No government wanted to deal with the 'unions'. Then came WW2,again the workers took the brunt of the conflict, again they
  8. I would have thought with all the rain you guys have experienced, the bills for water should be a lot less. Do you pay for water and sewage, or is the bill just for water?

    Plastic Gun.

Atlanta, Georgia, Sept'2011.The price of a 9mm semi automatic pistol + 40 rounds on the street, was $400 or 1/2lb bag of weed. No need to make them, guns and weed are in abundance, this side of the pond.
  10. Hi Ace, saw Dave 'one tab' some years ago on a visit to Nottingham, healthwise he was suffering with an upper respiratory problem, that must of been around 98/99. He was still the same guy I had known from the mid 60s,always had a plan to make it big time.I enjoyed his company, but would never give him money to do an errand, a bit of a'Jack the lad',but none the less a harmless, likeable guy
  11. Hi systema, you don't look a day older than when we hung out in 'Skeggy',back in 65. Seems to me this TYAFANS might be a bit of a 'wind up' merchant, underestimates the older members on the site. We are not the Bingo playing generation, that our parents use to be. 'I'm talking about my g-g-generation baby'.
  12. Hi TYAFANS, read your posts.where is the proof in what you claim?I have always been interested in reading theories about the unknown, and the unexplained, but never read of anyone having absolute proof. Having faith in Jesus Christ, is not the same as having faith in UFOs or aliens, people were witness' to Jesus. I respect your opinion, but it seems you have to many conspiracy theories going on. I did watch the movie 'PAUL', enjoyed it so much I purchased a copy.
  13. You are about 1 hour 20 mins away George, strait shoot down Interstate 4, we will have to meet up sometime. I was born, and grew up in Beeston, and an old boy from 'Beeston Fields',small world eh':)
  14. Hi George, a warm welcome, from one Floridian to another. My aunt and uncle lived on Denison street years ago,Ann and George Wildy, had three daughters and a son. can't remember what number house they lived at.
  15. Hiya John, welcome to Nottstalgia, read your posts with interest, Yes Pete Blood married Carol,I don't know about him being 'hard',more like he had no limits. If you knew Click and Radio, then you would know Ben,I hung around with these guys constantly at one time. Pete Blood and Radio died some time ago,as have many of the old 'Dungeon crowd',sad to say.
  16. Yes,that is the guy I knew. If memory serves me right, the canoe came from a back garden that ended at the railway lines, and the nature reserve back then was known as 'willow woods'.We spent a lot of time there as a kids, during our summer break from school. The best blackberries we picked were along the railway lines, with thundering steam trains passing us at regular intervals. Hard to believe, looking back( in horror) that we ever did such crazy things, but we did.
  17. Hi Jake,Chris came from Chilwell, he was a couple of years older than me, sorry to hear of his death. Chris,Nev Westerman and I, began learning to play our instruments together, circa 1962. Convinced we would become Nottinghams' answer to the 'Shadows'.RIP Chris.
  18. tried your advise Mick, still no "like this" button.
  19. Is anyone else missing the 'like this' button, when they post something?
  20. I was not shocked to read this article, disturbed, yes. Just a matter of time before this was to happen. The corporate world cannot see the elderly or the infirm as being of any use to them, exept maybe for healthy body parts or as guinea pigs. Lets face it, hospitals are now part of that corporate world we live in.
  21. The cafe was the'Robin Hood', the pub close by was the 'White Post', if memory serves me right. The record I remember hearing for the first time was 'Leader of the Pack' by the 'Shangrilas'.I'm sure Babs will remember that one,the record was worn out on the jukebox at'Jacks'cafe.
  22. Hi guys, welcome to Nottstalgia, reminds me of 'Steptoe & son'.
  23. I agree with you entirely Mick, when this kind of crime happens here in the States, he would be given a life sentence for every life he has taken. Never being released untill being carried out in a pine box. Those poor innocent children, never having a life to live, so very sad.
