  1. Hi Dave 48 which end did they live on?, I was near the bottom of Shipley road Rog
  2. PeverilPeril, Glad you enjoy reading of my exploits on the Jolly Roger, still unable to get out on the trike as still not back to full health but I think heading in the right direction (fingers crossed) quite like the look of your rowing trike, obviously use a different set of muscles to the recumbent trike, did it take you long to get your muscles used to it? It took me about 1000 miles to get my "recumbent legs" as they are called, nice to lay back on the recumbent and take in the scenery, can't do that on a road bike because you are looking at the front wheel all the time and all that leaning
  3. Thanks for reminding us of this,as you know Pete I worked on the old RAF Woodhall airfield where G P Gibson took off from on his final sortie, parts of the runway are still there and the Lincs wildlife trust are in the process of buying the old site and running it as a nature reserve, they want to preserve the old runways so that visitors to the site will have somewhere to sit and spend a bit of time in "Quiet reflection" as they put it, not sure if I took you down that runway Pete on your visit,I will get a picture of the remaining runway and post on here when I get time Rog
  4. Watched it over the weekend, nice bit about the Nottingham caves and a walk around the Galleries of justice I thought interesting, then an interview with the managers and staff at a metal flue manufacturers, nice to see businesses doing well for a change, wouldn't watch it every day but now and again when something interesting on like that. I see one of the main adverts was for the small businesses in and around Kimberley is that tattoo studio anything to do with you Kev? just a thought Rog
  5. Got a copy of this a couple of years ago, well worth getting a copy, very informative Rog
  6. Seen and heard them many times now over Tattershall/Coningsby and the Canadian Lancs sounds different to ours, a bit deeper sound with none of that rattle, those that have heard the BBMF Lanc will know what I'm on about, still great to see them both though and as you say the sound is awesome, Imagine the night times 70 plus years ago over enemy territory when the 1000 bomber raids took place, the sound of the bombers alone must have terrified the Germans Rog
  7. The ladder rungs should be a bit closer together, save him from stretching when climbing it Rog

  9. Brilliant write up Pete,I agree with you about taking pictures, I have been to many airshows and only seen them through the camera lens, much more enjoyable to see the whole surroundings,I saw the trio fly over Coningsby on their way to your area,I was on the old RAF Woodhall site working at the time so got a good view of them,as you say get to see them if you can even if not interested in aircraft,it's spectacle not to be missed Rog
  10. Last Thursday over the quarry at Tattershall Thorpe, they were about 300ft just after take off fromConingsby Rog

  13. Hi Pete, The two Lancs took off about 10.45hrs and headed towards Newark way, not got back yet, have you looked on the "Fighter control" website and picked up some info from there, just follow the "recent air show "photography or the "Coningsby" link, got a few pics of them yesterday, not brilliant pictures but as they flew overhead at about 200ft I had overzoomed my lens and cut the tail of the trailing one, much better to view them as they fly over and not through a lens though Rog

  17. My daughter works at Leicester royal and has to pay to park her car, the staff also have to leave a card on the dashboard to say what time they will be returning (end of shift) many of the staffs cars have been broken into because the thieves know how much time they have to play with before the owner returns, what a strange world we live in Rog

  22. Noticed that myself when I've visited the old place, the youngsters learn it off their parents when running around the supermarkets, in saying that though,it's more noticable out here in Lincolnshire when every other word is a swear word Rog
  23. All restoration plans need to be in place before any digging is started, they need to be approved by local authorities after consultation with residents and businesses, a full survey has to be carried out and any road/public footpaths alterations need to be sorted at the expense of the mining company (not cheap) all visual and noise bunds have to be in place around the site and these are made up of overburden and top soils from the dig area and these will be put back in the same area and same order they were removed in when restoration is taking place, restoration takes on many forms and at Cos
  24. Drunk in charge of a bycycle is an offence Smiffy49, read my post on "get what you deserve" (I think it is), Like you I am a cyclist but these Lycra louts have changed my mind about a lot just lately Rog
