  1. The problem we face in the UK is that air rifles are restricted to 12 ft lbs muzzle energy over that you require a Part one firearms certificate same as for a .22rf or full bore rifle. Colin
  2. dgbrit, sounds a nice set up. Know what you mean about the cost of .223, that's why I always reloaded, it was the only way I could afford to shoot it on a regular basis. Colin
  3. dgbrit, what calibre .223? I had the AR180 in .223 before they were banned over here. Good gun could cut x rings at 400 yards no trouble. 45 grain soft point with a good dose of Bluedot gave a very flat trajectory. Colin
  4. Nowt for the next three years its only two months owd. Colin
  5. If I am right either Vic or Midland station had those type of lifts. I know it was one or the other but just can't remember which. Colin
  6. Meeowed, I am not sure how this fits in with the info supplied by yourself but I have found the following William Nix Gunner 205288 RHA. Killed 02/04/18 aged 34. Grave at Duisans British Cemetery Etun. There is actually a picture of the grave on the web. Son of Robert & Susan Nix 13 Ledger Yard, Ilkeston Rd, wife Florence. The people at RHA may be able to help they are usually pretty keen about their war memorials. Colin
  7. Can't remember when I started on the tinternet. Now as well as using interesting forums like this, I do a lot of work related activity. Buying goods at the right price, researching problems etc. Colin
  8. I must be lucky SWMBO makes all her own, wouldn't give you tuppence for a shop bought pork pie. Colin
  9. That guy has created a wonderful record for future generations. Colin
  10. Coal gas was poisonous. Were as natural gas is not hence not many stick their heads in the gas oven these days. It is however over twice as powerful and therefore gives more bang for your buck if you get it wrong. Colin
  11. You deffo couldn't smell gas at Basford, the amount of fags being smoked it would have gone up big time. The smell was the exhaust from the baking of coal in the ovens, really bad when they were drawing coke.
  12. 50 to 1 we hear that all encompassing sentence. 'Enquiry and then we will learn the lesson's'. My question is, how many bladdy lesson's do you need before you actually learn something. Colin
  13. Don't forget without the bees, wasps and other pollinators there would be a world wide food shortage. Colin
  14. I have my suspicion's about a certain grocery in Sherwood. Most of his stuff seems to be marked organic etc and I have seen him leaving a certain wholesalers with trollies full of fruit and veg. Next time I see him I will take note of what's in his trolley and then after a couple of hours check his display, pics to the trading standards. Colin
  15. Remember me mums stewing meat cooked one day on a low light for hours, left overnight in the pan and then cooked again before serving. Served in a plate sized Yorkshire pudding with veg. Food for the gods. Colin
  16. Here in the UK commercial fertilizers are given an NPK rating to show the level of the three main ingredients. This makes up the bulk of the mix with added trace elements in varying degrees. N Nitrogen is good for green growth and foliage but over use it and you can get big weak plants that are susceptible to disease etc. P Phosphorus is good for root growth on all plants and for flowers. K Potassium also known as Potash is good for overall plant health and fruit production. By fruit I mean the fruit of any plant from tomatoes to spuds. Therefore decide what you want your fertilizer to do
  17. Flipping heck My Virgin Media, internet, 2 phone lines and essentials collection costs £57. If I took £14 off for the extra phone line £43.
  18. Glad to see the comics are back, best laugh of the week you lot.
  19. Bought a target rifle from a chap who lived on Aslockton Drive, 1963 if I remember correctly. Colin
  20. Apparently they are claiming they didn't nick it but bought it for £300. Yeah right . The best of it is the coppers won't even tell the owners where it is, so they are stuck as to what to do. Colin
  21. I was lead to beleive that so called plinth is a sarcophagus containing some of the remains from the cemetery. Colin
  22. Mick the first brakes were a drum type of affair with two half round pads to grip the drum. Disc brakes were first fitted to a sports car in 1902 but did not start to become main stream on production cars until about 1953. Motor bikes were later still about 1968 a Honda I believe. Colin
  23. You'll not get anymore of that then LOL Colin
  24. Mick I got my Organic Extra from Marshalls Seeds. It seem a bit expensive when you first look at it but when you realise its applied at a handful to the square metre it goes a long way. As to tomorite there ain't much I don't use it on. Even my spuds get a good dose in the last few weeks when the tubers are forming. Colin
  25. As to peat based compost B&Q Verve 58% peat in compost. Its not as good as the old stuff but its better than nowt. If you try any be careful as the Verve brand also do a peat free which is bladdy awful. Colin
