  1. It's the one by Bernard Heathcote, part of yesterdays Nottingham series. RRP is £3.50 in Waterstones, £12.95 on Amazon. Other areas of Nottingham are covered in the series.
  2. Sue, opposite your shop would have been Days the Grocers on the corner of Kirkby St. There is a very good book called The Nottingham Meadows, with lots of pictures in. Think it's available at most book shops.

  5. Sue i remember your shop. My parents bought a setee from you. Was this Cafe on the corner of Agnes St?
  6. I think there was a pub called the Moulders arms on Bovill St off Hartley road. This was a fairly new pub, perhaps replacing an older one.
  7. Highest point in Nottingham is Dorket head. Highest in Nottinghamshire is the old Silver hill pit near Kirkby, some one said you can see Lincoln Cathedral from there.
  8. Beefy that sounds like the Dolmus buses in Turkey. Turkish for Dolmus is "stuffed".
  9. I saw an "astiste" called Stormy day once at the Carlton, she used a whip. She caught my bus the next day, she lived at Clifton and i did recognise her with her clothes on.

    I went to a Polish barbers once for a Tony Curtis style. After he shaved the lot off i told him it didn't look a bit like Tony Curtis, he told me it did when he was in the King and I. !laughing!

  13. There used to be an asylum on Carlton road opposite the Duke of Devonshire pub. Thats how it got its nickname the madhouse.
  14. In the sixties it might have been called Parrs, circuit board/electronics.
  15. The woman from the arcade is Margaret, living in Sherwood. the shop closed a few years ago.
  16. There was a slaughter house round there somewhere, Hackets? Also a flour place, RHM?
  17. I'm sure i have seen that tag machine somewhere, possibly the Heritage centre at Ruddington.

  19. Yes i remember the machine that printed tags on to aluminium strips it was there late sixties. Next to it was a vibrating plate to stand on for those aching feet.
  20. Was this plaice (fish shop) on Front street near the co-op, demolished about 25 years ago? I remember one there with the rope pulley/lift and 2 large ladies working there.
