  1. Its ok Rog wer'e all past knocking people off scooters, we have spoken to our local PSO but he can't always be in the right place. When we contacted council we gave them a number which was on his scooter! , he is plain and simple a nasty foul mouthed old man. Unfotunately nobody knows who he is but must live near unless he spends his days driving around Gateshead annoying strangers.
  2. Mobility scooters are not a menace it's the idiots that use them. The road in front of my house is narrow (house built 1860s) just enough for 2 large venicles to pass, every day without fail a bloody idiot comes down middle of road and will move for no one. He says he's got as much right as anyone go down the road it has got so bad we have contacted council to see if he can be educated on road safety, either that or one of us will knock him of his scooter. Not really.

    Fireworks

Couldn't put a notification on your post, that is a horrible thing to do to a defenceless little animal. Makes you wonder what kind of home they come from obviously have no morals, no wonder this country is going to hell in a hand basket.
  4. Make them pay insurance, they would drive more carefully if there were consequences for their actions.
  5. NBL a bloomin big ooops, tried again earlier today same result "well it would be" .Hubby asked who told you that said someone on NS comes from Basford, well if he's from Basford knows what he's on about. Ben was trained from the start to sit and stay and he is perfect other things a total nightmare, taking him around farm to see his reaction to animals he has never seen so if he's startled this time i know what to do. Hubby like yourself was a Basford lad born and bred till he took off "up north" thanks for help and information.
  6. Fly i know this should be in another thread what you wouldn't wear now, mine is the same as quoted "what must i have looked like".
  7. We are staying for a few days as hubby has volunteered to help lay kitchen tiles. I have to be very careful in what i teach Ben, my main role is to socialise and train him to be obedient but i will take and use your advice as he can't be scared of unexpected noise. I tried your method earlier today but as i went to the floor and put my hands on his ears he thought it was a game knocked me flat on my back and sat on me. Better luck next time.
  8. Reading comments on small ladies my mother is one 4ft 10in my aunt 4ft 10.1/2in (half inch very important) mum used to say good stuff in small bundles dad's reply especially poison. He was 5ft 10in but the little un was boss.
  9. I now how u must be feeling, there should be a curfew but we know there won't be. Give plenty cuddles Jill best remedy.
  10. NBL thank you for the advice i thought i would try it tonight but the noise from the park is deafining. Ben is sitting in corners and shaking we can"t calm him down. My friend who lives in the middle of nowhere "literally" cottage on a farm has told us to bring Ben he can be with their dogs away from noise. Its 3/4 of an hour journey but w orth it so can calm down, sit with him in back of car cuddled in his blanket, what we do for our pets.
  11. What i don't understand is why wait so long to report the offense, a lot of them were women in positons of power or well known within their proffession. Some of it smells to me like a witch hunt, the jounalist who was named in "kneegate said i told him to stop or i would punch his face in". That was the end of the matter for her until i think someone decided to use it, other things have come to light since so we will see.
  12. NBL thank you for the advice and i will try it, as a puppy walker the more i can teach Ben the better i feel. We had no problem with our last puppy she loved watching the fireworks from inside the house, see what happens with him tomorrow.
  13. Lizzie that must of been a terrible moment both for you and Jack, plus you feel guilty for leaving him. As Ben will be a guide dog when he grows we want him to get used to all noise but fireworks are a different kettle of fish. We will just see how he reacts and if he's not happy hide in the dark and cuddle him, the downside is firework display is literally over the road in our local park.
  14. Loppy since the incident with the firework Ben has been a little jumpy, asked vet about calming tablets and he said no. We both assume he will not be near fireworks when he is older so i will take him in the house where he can see the bonfire and fireworks. If he gets upset take him to back of house sit and watch loud tv till it's all over. Gem

    Halloween

When living in Nottingham i worked in Griffin and Spalding mainly saturdays and odd days when not at university. Lunch times in the summer we sat in the square and watched the world go by, if you sat in the right place you ended up with a nice tan, now it has no appeal at all. The only time it comes alive is summer when it's filled with children.

    Halloween

My granddaughter has had her first Halloween in her own house, so decided to welcome local children. Two small boys knocked on her door with mum so they went in and the smallest said " I thought witches had a black cat". Grandaughter has a black great dane she just looked at his mother and laughed never been called a witch before.
  19. NBL I read that news last night and thought it must be fake news, surely no government could be that stupid. Then I remembered i live in the UK.
  20. Is it worth me putting the house on the market ??
  21. My late uncle was still alive at the time of Lee Rigby's death, after they were sentenced he said i would sell my house and give the money to anyone who gave them the same treatment. A navy man for 24 years and not shy of coming forward.

    Halloween

Hubby just finished hanging a green headed goul from the attic window, he goes on a long pole and as he moves his head lights up and he cackles. He is out till 7.30 because by then all the little ghosts have gone home. My son brought it home 7 years ago said to his dad you can hang the witch out of the window his reply - no your mum wouldn't like it. Didn't take him long to recover. Happy Halloween.
  23. Commo reading your poem brought me to tears, may the road that you are now travelling get easier with time. My thoughts are with you. Gem.

    Halloween

Do any members decorate their houses for Halloween, encourage all the little tykes dressed up and clutching pumpkin buckets.
  25. Margie, was reading through this thread yesterday and saw the picture of yourself in uniform. My daughter in law is here with me, she was a siser at the RVI the rule still stands can't wear uniform to or from work. She now works in the private sector but has not ruled out a return in the future. Her comment was how smart you looked and very proud of your profession.
