  1. OK, I am no longer delivering parcels but I was spending £50+ per week on petrol. It is now over 6 weeks since I last went to a petrol station. On top of that I have seen things I wouldn't have otherwise seen and been in areas that I wouldn't otherwise have been. Don't regret buying another bike for one minute.
  2. Just been to Giltbrook retail park and back. Wilko/Decathlon and a general ride round. And yes, you do see things that you wouldn't otherwise see while driving around in your car. Its also taking me to places that I wouldn't otherwise go in my car and for that matter, places I wouldn't walk to.
  3. Is that an adjustable stem you have on that?
  4. My current ride. An older Dawes Discovery 601. I have found it to be a very easy ride.
  5. I used to play that, and quite well too. Now I've heard it again I shall have to re-learn it !
  6. Free entry into the grounds only I assume?
  7. Yes. I have a vague recollection of my father having mentioned this too. He lived on Melbourne Road at that time
  8. No. I knew all of the family when they used to visit Eastwood Conservative Club. Charlotte used to work behind the bar. Bob went to Lord Nelson after leaving Hooleys.
  9. On reflection he only had one car from there. It was a Mk 1 Consul - RAU 56. The next one, a Mk2 Zephyr 965 KTV, he traded the Consul in for, came from Blackton Garage which was at Sutton in Ashfield. Martin was trying to ofload one of two Mk2 Consul's on to my father but they were both bad 'uns.
  10. My father had a couple of cars over the years from Martins Motors on Gamble Street. That would have been mid/late 60's and very early 70's. Remember that place well.
  11. I'm interested to know how you get on with that. I've seen them and I like the idea.
  12. How come that scooters can do that speed but e-bikes are limited to 15.5 MPH? I can pedal my normal bike at more than 15 MPH
  13. Thanks. I shall have to go and have a look. I believe the subway was filled in years ago due to concern about peoples safety. I might be wrong tho'
  14. This is what I'm getting at (I think). I don't think there are any pedestrian crossings. If there are I've never noticed them and surely they would only lead onto grass verges. I have driven around that island a million times and never noticed
  15. Don't know if there are any regular cyclists on here but has anyone got a definitive method to negotiate Nuthall roundabout on a bike? I would need to get from Nottingham Road, going away from The Three Ponds, towards Nottingham, to the old Nottingham Road that comes out (now) near the bottom ov Bells Lane. I don't think there's any provision for cyclists whatsoever but I am hoping to stand corrected.
  16. I've just bought a bike. Wish I hadn't sold the last one I had. Sick of giving oil companies my money!
  17. My beans are just not doing very well this year.
  18. I've just given up counting at 40.
  19. Well what do you know! I've just been into Outlook email account settings to have another play and it has all come right all on its own (I think). Whatever, I can now receive AND send emails. Thanks for the help folks.
  20. Thanks for the offer of the loan but I have just ordered one. I have a few old HDD's with 'stuff' on them that ought to be put all in one place.
  21. Well I have just had go at setting it up using POP3 instead of Virgins recommended IMAP. I can now receive emails with Outlook but can't send them yet. The outgoing SMTP server keeps changing its port number. I'll leave it a while longer and have another go.
  22. Its not the battery that died. The battery tells you on it what it is and just clips in on the underside (on mine at least).
  23. No. That was my first thought but apparently more modern hard drives are assigned to the motherboard. The person I bought the computer from checked that my old hard drive was still good using a docking station but I haven't got one of those (yet). Tried ringing Virgin but you just keep pressing 1 or n3 and end up back where you started - total joke!
