  1. You were 100% right Mary. I dragged out my copy. It was released in February 1978 This is the record sleeve. The Trent End stand in the background it is as I remember it.
  2. I saw a review of the Southwell chippy that said it was awful, probably best not to go there.
  3. Forest - In talking about Everton the EPL appeal board said that a six point deduction was the minimum but sufficient sanction required to achieve the aims of the profit and sustainability rules. If that happened today Forest would be in 18th position, two points behind Luton who have a game in hand. A 10 point deduction would see them only one point ahead of Burnley and Sheffield United on 13 points and already look doomed. Either penalty, given Forest's current form would definitely see them relegated and would surely be the end for Nuno too. Only 12 games left in the season for them to
  4. Long time friend and fellow Hairy Biker Si Kingt has announced the death of Dave Myers who was being treated for cancer of late but had returned to work in a Christmas special. It was refreshing to hear their local accents in one of the best cooking/travelogue shows. Thanks for the enjoyment. RIP Dave Myers.
  5. Forest - The game looked set to be going into extra time but Forest exit the FA Cup by a last minute goal from United's Casemiro after a long VAR review. Forests attacking forays were at best sporadic and pretty ineffectual. Forest's 'keeper Turner made some fine saves to keep United out and Forest in the game. If Forest can get a draw at home against Liverpool on Saturday it would help their battle for survival as they have some winnable games coming up as they await the outcome of the legal battle over breaking the spending rules.
  6. Our school uniform had a navy blue blazer, blue or white shirts with grey trousers or skirts. Why anyone would need a hymn book I don't know as most only mumbled or said rhubarb, rhubarb. Morning assembly and god bothering was not popular in our school. The main thing I learned using a slide rule was "order of magnitude" which stood me in good stead in later life with calculations and spreadsheets.
  7. I have to admit that I had never heard of the term bilateral school so I looked it up on t'interweb. The only one in Nottingham is Nottingham Bluecoat School in Aspley which is a mixed school.
  8. County - Losing 3-4 at home to the bottom club Sutton United and having to come from behind 3 times before losing to a 70th minute penalty just about ends County's hope of promotion. Luckily Accrington Stanley lost at home and County did not fall further down the ladder. The more optimistic fans would say they are still only 4 points from a play-off spot. Their form is not consistent and a goal difference of only +3 does not give much hope. Away at Bradford on Saturday who could climb above Notts if they win. Forest - Home against Manchester United in the FA Cup tonight. Probably m
  9. That's fine DJ360 but what word would you use to describe those in society that want to rewrite history and "bend" past decisions to suit todays sometimes strange interpretations of what is right. Given the dross that appears in film and TV today surely the BBFC have other things to focus on rather than reclassifying a 1965 film.
  10. The "wokelings are alive and well, as I see today that BBFC(British Board of Film Classification)has raised the rating of Mary Poppins from a G General or U Universal rating to a PG Parental Guidance rating as some scenes may be unsuitable for young children. Apparently, it is all about the use of the word Hottentots which is now regarded as racially offensive. I doubt very much that a young child of today would know what a Hottentot is/was. FFS how the heck did we get here, we must take back control and stop this stupidity. I suggest we start by not using neutral gender words. A fem
  11. Forest - Now that the Premier Leagues appeals board has reduced Everton's points penalty to 6 it sees Forest only one place and four points out of a relegation place. Any significant penalty for Forest will surely see them relegated. Nuno is hardly setting the world on fire and the fans are becoming increasingly restive. Good luck to the Reds on Wednesday evening.
  12. I agree it's up there with Cow heel soup.
  13. Just read an interesting article in the "Gridiron" about the miners strike in 1984-85. I remember the 1972 strike well Although I was not there I "lived" the 84-85 strike through my brother who was a staunch unionist and other family members who were supporters of the UDM. The article in no way relates to my understanding of the strike in the north Notts mining village I was born and brought up in. In all I thought it was a pretty superficial article. On reading the comments following it was said that in the 1983 and 1987 general elections that the Conservatives won a large majority of se
  14. I thought he had but could not remember when. I have never heard that European Cup Final anecdote before. I wonder what brought that refusal on?
  15. A single bee only produces about one twelfth of a teaspoon of honey (0.8 grams) in its life-time. We would very quickly get into negative equity if we did this to every bee we found. Worker bees only live for 15-38 days during summer and up to 200 in the winter. I do my best to save them when they try to commit suicide in my pool when after a drink of water. I lift them out and put them on the pool coping to dry out. When dry most of them fly away quite happily.
  16. According to the reports I read the Stags scored first in the 18th minute. I think they have a good chance of taking the title. I agree County need to smarten up and improve their consistency or it will be an "also ran" position for them at the end of the season. Is Nuno a NoNo at Forest? I am not seeing the improvement I expected. Yes definitely in with a chance on Wednesday I just hope he does not pick an understrength team trying to concentrate on improving their league position. Whatever Nuno is trying to do it is not working.
  17. We have a Brunnings here in OZ. It is an Melbourne based national garden supplies company and has been in business for 169 years. It was started by George and Charles Brunning who arrived in Melbourne in 1852. I wonder if there is any connection?
  18. County - Continue their slide down the ladder, now see the bottom half of the table in 13th place after going down 1-3 at home to promotion hopefuls Crewe. The visitors opened the scoring in the 5th minute and extended their lead in the 19th minute with a penalty. That man had a shot well saved by the Crewe 'keeper but the game was relatively quiet until Crewe went further ahead in the 77th minute. County got somewhat of a consolation goal when O'Brien scored in the 83rd minute. A look at the match stats indicates Notts have some fundamental issues to resolve. In losing 1-3 at home the stats f
  19. Do you really believe that politicians of all persuasions were not blatantly lying over Brexit? If I were a TV or radio interviewer or a newspaper reporter and a pollie obfuscated or didn't answer the question asked I would immediately end the interview and tell the public why I had terminated the interview. As for hiding behind "commercial in confidence" they are spending taxpayers money and unless it is a matter of national security then it should be public knowledge. Interestingly in law a liar can be accused of perjury whereas someone who misleads cannot. The national broad
  20. The more I read this thread and experience "politics" of all persuasions at all levels of government here the more disillusioned I become. It is way past time that laws are put in place to have "truth in politics" to prevent blatant lies being told particularly in the run up to elections. A recent example here was that prior to the last Federal election both the PM and Defence Minister came to Adelaide and announced that nine new warships were to be built locally. Last week the number was reduced to six. Bearing in mind the last election was only two years ago then surely defence planning
  21. Our weather has been so changeable this summer, today's forecast of 30c got to 32 and tomorrow it's forecast to be 19 after a cool change blows through. 10-15 below is not a temperature anyone should live in.
  22. Some of the more "red" labour voters in the village I delivered paper to took the Morning Star
