  1. Went to look at buying a Honda CB250 at Andy Bones, they wanted too much for it and wouldn't budge a penny !!. Tight, miserable sods.
  2. My tablet boo booed, his name was Les not Lee. And although we all started with 'Scalextric ' ours was hand built cars and tracks, so I don't think Les would have anything to do with what we would have classed as kiddys stuff. I went out with his daughter for a while, although her brother (Rob) and I used to knock around together, he never knew, they hated each other.
  3. On the corner to the left was a tool shop, can't remember the name but above it was a model racing car club, ran by Lee Sergeant, I was a member there as a lad. Only lived up the road a bit, opposite the Admiral Dundas. Great photo, brings back memories.
  4. I also had the mk2 zodi green and cream , reg VVO 767. Manual overdrive, firestone town and country 's on the rear. And like you say meeowed, go all day at 70, the bench seat was a bit slippery though. Mind you, it came in handy at times, (with a girl). And no, that's not why it was slippery!!!
  5. So now you can whistle and brush your teeth at the same time!!
  6. There is a myriad of tunnels under Nottingham university, used mainly for services from the boiler house to the university. The boilerman there said there were about 7 miles of tunnels in total. I never got to find out though, perhaps someone on here might know more!!
  7. Knowing how most of these sites work, they probably want a bit more money!!
  8. System scaffold will never replace tube and fitting, be It 'Layer' Palmers, Quickstage ect.
  9. Spot on Gem, as you would know from most of my posts.
  10. My gran swore by them, what the ek was in them?
  11. That's what you get for using band and plate fittings, got fed up with sgb when they had a depot up mapperley. Although B & P have there uses.
  12. You aint been down St Ann's for a while then Ben!
  13. I don't think thats a putlog scaffold Ian, i can see inside standards. And normally, putlog scaffold is used on brickwork.
  14. Where we used to live (Norfolk) they were Norfolk pan tiles. Bleddy useless things if you ask me. I know you wernt asking, just my opinion.
  15. Wouldn't get many bikes on them though surely!
  16. Answer, sitting in a JCB coming the other way!!
  17. When I were a lad, me gran took me to a dentist/butcher on st Ann's Well rd, across from the Chase. After he had finished, i ended up at the general hospital having some stitches to stem the bleeding he had caused. No compo in them day's!!
  18. I'm with you on that one Phil, but when you give a cyclist a friendly ,'pap ' on the horn to let them know that you are there, and they stay two or three abreast, and then put two fingers up to you after, I call that damm right ignorant, or very brave/stupid. I know a few folks that would not think twice about stopping in front of them and wrapping the bikes around they're neck.
  19. I think some have 'fly sheets ' mixed up with fly tipping !!
  20. I don't think many new lorry drivers know how to tie there shoe laces never mind sheet and rope a load. My father in law, took pride in his skills of securing his load. He also taught three of his sons to do the same. But like has been said, curtain siders and the likes have taken over. Strange though, i see a lot more ratchet straps lying on the roads than I ever did with sheets and ropes, and curtain siders with loads bulging out of one side. Still i suppose that's progress for you!!
  21. Now this is the part that I don't fully understand, cyclists, which in the vulnerability stakes, rank one up from pedestrians and one below motorcyclist are allowed to effectively race on the public highway. My insurance is null and void if I did that on my motor bike or car !!. Also when out on my bike, I do tend to ride more defensively than in a car, because I know how vulnerable i am. But the groups of cyclists,as stated, think that they are above the law. Please feel free to enlighten me,!!
  22. Usually a clip on the elbow from the side mirror gets the desired result !!!
