  1. Today I had a txt from my doctors surgery giving me a link to follow which was about my health. Clicked on it and saw the word vaccination, great excitement. On reading it it looks like my doctors surgery is going to be doing vaccinations (hooray) as well as Queens Med (who I read did 25 yesterday, yes 25, not actually rushing them out are they). Upon reading further it told me not to ring about the vaccination (which I hadn’t are people actually doing that?) and that I would be contacted in due course which I expected anyway. Pound to a penny it will be the nurses at the surgery doing the
  2. Hot toast with loads of butter. Fresh cream apple turnovers.
  3. 500,000 vaccinated only 8,750,000 or so to go until it is me.
  4. It is a bit akward BK as they were so relieved when I said I would do it, I had already said no to retakes in December being in a room with 7 - 10 pupils. I can wear my mask and face shield and the first 2 will be when only certain pupils can be there before the testing starts. I will see how safe I feel and if I am not happy will stop, they do know I am in the vulnerable category because of my age (although I must admit I don’t feel vulnerable or elderly for that matter!) There are more in February, although I have a feeling we could be Tier 4 (Peterborough is only 60 miles away and they
  5. Good start to the day, toast set off the smoke alarm and house smells of burnt toast, conservatory has sprung a leak and I have dropped and broken a mug. At least my new guttering is working, no waterfall at the front of the house. Going to put the bin out ready for tomorrow and then cuddle up with Kai (who is sulking a bit as we haven’t been for a walk today so treats are required) on the floor in front of the gas fire and read a book on my kindle as I have read all the books I got from the library. The ironing can wait until tomorrow!
  6. BK what is a “hooley” never heard that expression before.
  7. Don’t blame Europe for banning UK residents from travelling abroad. Something we should have done when we were low and Europe was starting to escalate possibly? It might focus minds more hopefully but am not holding my breath. Also wasn’t it obvious when the tier 4 was going to be put into place that there would be an exodus of people from London etc. Human nature to get away from a threat, just have to hope it doesn’t seed it throughout the country although I read that there are odd cases throughout the country anyway. Lockdown looming again? Also seen a statistic that 1 in 40 secondary sc
  8. Mine is the 1 - 21 February. Did it a few days ago and it was end of January to middle of February so possibly will end up being beginning of summer?
  9. Even if I go onto the brown background it is the same.
  10. I am in default and it feels like it!!
  11. No I have a white background. The banner ends just above the magnifying glass etc. On the left hand side is the Nottstalgia heading and above that it tells me which section I am in eg OwtAboutNowt. Can’t find any other hidden icons.
  12. Totally confused. Don’t have name/avatar in top right hand corner, good job I was signed in as I can’t find sign in/out anywhere. I’m on the default version which I presume is the right one? I am on iPad perhaps this is why?
  13. When I was at secondary school there was a lad called Geoffrey Hoe (think that was his surname) who’s mum and dad ran the Pelican. This was in the 1960’s.
  14. Oh dear what a pity looks like London might have to go into tier 3. Seems to be a bit of a panic about it (didn’t notice that when most of the north was in it) and one of the solutions suggested is mass testing of school children!! Strange that as I thought we had been told a)they don’t really get it b) they only get it mildly c) the chance of them passing it on is negligible d) teachers are more likely to pass it on when socialising on their coffee breaks But then perhaps I have misunderstood what has been spouted over the last few months by various experts includ
  15. Loved going to see Forest. First went with my dad and then graduated to the Trent End (not with my dad I hasten to add). I can remember seeing them play Derby and my friends and I being escorted out of the ground and some distance away so we were “safe” and then the lads left us and went back. I believe the Derby fans were run all the way to the train station. Think the same thing happened when they played Leicester. We were told to put our scarves away as well. Memories of a misspent youth
  16. I see there have been 2 NHS staff who have had an allergic reaction to the vaccine. Bet the anti-vaxxers will jump on that.
  17. Not sure if this is correct but I am sure I can remember my dad telling me that Peter Grummitt played part of a match with a broken arm. He just had it sprayed with a pain killing spray and carried on?
  18. Having lived in Doncaster during the Donnygate scandal of the labour run council it is no surprise at all. Even after this was discovered some of the councillors involved were voted back in again. It just defied logic.
  19. I can’t remember the cannons to be honest BK but perhaps someone else will. Hi Alpha did the Middletons build it, never knew the family name of those that owned it I must admit. I think I heard/read that their land stretched right up to Bramcote including the Hemlock Stone. When all this silliness goes away (if ever) I would like to go on the tour, want to see the haunted room and the ballroom and go up on the roof as well.
  20. Amazing pictures. We are so lucky to still have it and be able to wander round the grounds and lake for free. We go there regularly, it’s about a half hour walk, and I am always in awe of the hall it’s so beautiful, seems amazing one family owned so much. It was really busy through the summer which was good to see and there are still quite a few going there now. We will be walking With Kai there on Christmas Day, weather permitting, with a flask (tea) to sit by the lake before walking round it and then home possibly via the Admiral Rodney if it is open. I have many happy memories of goi
  21. I think I can vaguely remember her, it was a big department took up a whole floor of Talbot House and when I moved over to Times we were in a separate room until we moved to an annex across the road next to the cemetery. I did enjoy working there, my boss was my mentor, taught me more than I ever learned at school and pushed me to succeed. Don’t think I would have got where I did or be who I am now without him. Happy memories.
  22. Rain turned to sleet here. The snow flakes are getting a bit bigger and more plentiful. Kai has retired to his bed as we aren’t going for a walk giving me the sad eyes! Fingers crossed your cat turns up Margie.
  23. Phyllis rings a slight bell, but I did know a pair of twins and one of them was a Phyllis (the other one was Lillian, those names seem to have died out). I did move with my boss to start up a Times Furnishing (the very posh cav-woodhouse stores, quite expensive mostly down south especially London. The Peckham store was a nightmare) default department so she could have been there after I moved. Must admit I did enjoy that job, was there for a long time. Great satisfaction tracking people down and getting the money owed paid. That is probably where I got my cynicism (spelling?) and “prefer do
  24. I worked for Cavendish Woodhouse in their default department in Talbot House onTalbot Street (chasing non-payers, always think this is what made me so cynical hearing all the excuses why they couldn’t pay) for many years. The best excuse was that the settee fell to pieces and was found to be constructed of orange boxes!! I did have a 3 piece suite from then, avoided their cheap and cheerful range, which lasted quite a while until the settee set on fire and a wall unit which I had from the 70’s until just before I moved back here. I left in 1976 when I moved to Doncaster. A few years afte
  25. One thing I have noticed is that there isn’t anything about the virus in schools on the news. Nottinghamlive has a list of schools that have reported outbreaks in Nottinghamshire (over 90 and counting) but there doesn’t seem to be any statistics nationally or local breakdowns (Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire etc.). There seem to be statistics for everything else but not this.
