  1. Thanks for that Jill. Glad somebody else had heard of the books. I must admit even when writing the above post, I felt a bit embarrassed, wondering what people thought. Have just Googled the name Alison Uttley and was amazed with all the info. Didn't realise she wrote about "little grey squirrel", would that be in competition with "Peter Rabbit".
  2. Looking at your picture, is just about where we used to start/stop the city buses out of Bilborough depot for a while, when they were developing M.M.way. They've all stopped there at on time, 16,32, 30 62, even 56 & 60. I'm talking about the days when you drove down Derby Road. (Useless stuff but there you go).
  3. I must have been about7/8ish. Miss Bendall, a lovely lady introduced me to reading. They were simple story books about the adventures of "Sam Pig" and where he lived. For some reason, I always associated the books with Colwick woods, as my Aunt Evelyn and Uncle Mark lived there in a Nissen hut, ( before emigrating to Clifton). Loved those books and got really engrossed in them. Incidentally, 'er indoors has a first edition of " The Water Babies").
  4. Good ho ! So I can put me paints away again. I'll wait until you've finished your bench then I'll put one on. X
  5. Your lot must have bloody good pc,tablets, phones etc. With brilliant enlarging facilities, to gather all the information as seen on here. I've tried zooming in but not as good as you. Gonna throw my gear out the window !
  6. That's okay as long as your mooring lines are intact. If they come loose or snap and the river is running, you could end up anywhere. On a lesser scale, we were moored on the Llangollen canal, having lunch. A hire boat came rushing by and caused us to lose our mooring pins. We finished up broadside across the cut and wedged in the banks.
  7. Thought it was unlawful not to do it Oz.
  8. No Mary1947, it's a special medicated toothpaste. Not been able to visit me dentist for a year now, but when I get jab 2 next week, I will be able to make an appointment. Problem is, public transport to Lewes then stand outside until called in. Not been on a bus for a year and I don't fancy standing outside in the cold. ( As long as I don't get another Government letter !)
  9. My toothpaste has been prescribed by my dentist. It's Durophat , I'm led to believe it's about £9.00 or more per tube (a small tube at that). Dentist prescribed 6 tubes at a time.
  10. Change of subject., Just had a phone call inviting me for me 2nd jab next Saturday. Earlier today, 'er indoors had a call for 2nd jab at 12.43 same day. Mine is 15.07, but the nice lady said if I go along at the same time as my wife, I can be done at the same time. ( didn't fancy 2 trips or sitting there for 3 hours). Interestingly, my 1st appointment was 3 weeks after Tina. So she will be 11 weeks between and mine 8 weeks.
  11. How about using the excess for building a bbq or pizza oven. Just a suggestion. Does this mean I've got to change me picture on me little planter? Happy Building Nonna. :-)
  12. You take care Col. Don't overdo any exercise and make sure you get some rest. Thinking of you. B.
  13. That was the diagnosis at the start. Heaven only where I am now. Maybe my bloodiest in April may throw some light. I'm supposed to be lacking in iron too. What do they think I am, a bloody anvil !!
  14. I was on 100mg but it was increased to 125mg. I have another blood test on 26th April to check on any change ( I think). It was described as borderline under active.
  15. My intake consists of...13 tablets+ 1 injection before breakfast, 2 at lunchtime, 3 at teatime and 2 before bed. Jill, I take two Levothyroxine, 1@100mg and 1@25 mg. It was increased about a fortnight ago, but they don't make them in 125mg size.
  16. Eh Noddy, 'er indoors had Carpel Tunnel Syndrome. She had it operated on many years ago, at Victoria hospital, East Grinstead. Had her wrist in plaster for about 6 weeks. Awkward for a while but she got used to it. PS. Not gerrin' anywhere on yer bike, was cos yer wornt going fast enough.!!
  17. Trogg, is that owt like Lansoprazole? Been on that for ages. I think it's to settle some of the other stuff I'm on.
  18. I wonder if it were you we nabbed then Phil? It had a terrific recoil too.
  19. Talking of gas cannons, when I were a Park ranger at H.P.W.S.C. Two of us caught a bloke taking pot shots at our wild fowl. When he saw us he dropped his rifle in deep grass and when we caught up with him, he denied having a gun and walked off. We looked around and found the gun. It was something I'd never seen before as it was a high powered air rifle, powered by a gas cartridge, (very noisy when fired)we took it to the police station at West Bridgeford. The guy came to the centre later that day and owned up. We told him he could collect it from the police and explain to them what he'd been d
  20. Nice looking nippers Col., a lovely picture. I envy you mate.
