  1. Alpha, if your still on board, was my reply of any use to you? Back in 1966 I lived about 150 yards from the 53 terminus at Valley Road, (Upton drive). Not that that's got owt to do with anything. Does anybody have any idea what Bilborough depot is nowadays? Just curious, these sort of posts reignite my interest.
  2. I seem to remember the destination board was "53 Valley Road and 53 Green Lane". I think it was extended after I'd left. But I do recall, when I started driving, what an experience it was, going ALL the way to Clifton and how exiting it was going over Clifton Bridge. To me it was like being on a bus tour. I really do miss it.
  3. Morning Alpha, good day to you. You're correct with regard to the 53 service. However, it went a bit further than the Crown. I remember when it started. It used to run from Mansfield Road end of Valley Road, past City hospital, continued all along the boulevards past the Crown onto Middleton boulevard, over Derby Road island ,(as was) down to the traffic island at the start of University boulevard., then back again. I think it was about 1963 when the route was extended to Green lane Clifton. At first it was just on a Sunday service for the long run. The conductor who went on the first run was
  4. They'll go well with porridge KJ.
  5. Not knocking it Brew. Just saying it's nothing like porridge. Following the instructions, it's more like a paste, ie a Farleys rusk. I've tried it thinking it would be a time saver, ( before microwaves) but found it to be too sweet even without anything added. When you look on the shelves, they're there with honey, syrup, chocolate, fruits etc., all additives. A bit like these coffee sachets, latte, capuchinno etc., all chemicals. At least porridge has a bit of body, a real stomach liner. I believe it's our Scottish cousins who prefer a pinch of salt on their porridge, not like us Sassenachs ,
  6. Ready Brek aka Wallpaper paste. Nowt like porridge.
  7. Driven a 56 and 60 round that island many times. Irrelevant I know.
  8. Tell me Oz, how often is it that you go looking at Gnats bums, inspecting for pimples?
  9. There is absolutely no way your bp will be the same as at rest, when lying on your bed. Then you walk/drive to the surgery, with all that entails, followed by the nerves rush whilst waiting with anticipation in the waiting room. Thats why sometimes the nurse/gp says, sit down we'll try again in 5 minutes.
  10. Watcha Loppy, yes, Ramipril is doing me some good. I'm still on it and have been for quite a while. My cardiac nurse is delighted with my bp. I bought myself a bp monitor so I can keep an eye on it and give the nurse some results when she rings, (Covid you know). I down loaded a bp chart so I've got an idea and my resting bp is in the normal range. My missus, her bp shoots up when she sees the machine, but our gp says it 'White Coat syndrome.
  11. High blood pressure Loppy? Wanna buy some Ramipril? Only used once going to church.
  12. ???. Mine was meant with tongue in cheek TBI. Or didn't you notice?
  13. Wished I like fishing PP., I'd come with you, bring me own net and jam jar.
  14. Sorry I can only give you one like Brew. You deserve more.
  15. No apology necessary Oz, thank you. As for Bond themes, never much cared for them. The longer they've gone on,the more far fetched they've become. Too daft to laugh at.
  16. Knew I'd be put right. Just knew it.
  17. HSR, your right, Bob Holness was the first J.B. I believe it was for a radio play, (somebody will correct me if I'm wrong.) Hell Drivers was Sean Connery in minor role. The lead was Stanley Baker, supported by Patrick Mcgoohan, William Hartnell and many others. Do you want a copy?
  18. We still can't get channel 7 on free view down here in the sticks.
  19. Who is this person? Joined 12 years ago, yet only done 120 odd posts. Maybe a reveller Gem.
  20. My wife had a government letter about isolating. I'm just trying to be cautious. Your right Phil, nobody has told me it's safe. Plenty have said it's Not safe !! People can scoff all they want, I just want us both to be as safe as possible without being paranoid.
  21. Hiya PP., tried to zoom in on the picture and the shield looks like some sort of dormitory award, only can't make out the middle bit. Not much help I know. Take care. How's the chickens?
