  1. There used to be a dairy making cheese at Cropwell Bishop, is it still there?
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong but Cornwall have the same protection now over it's pasties. If not made in Cornwall they're only pasties. As with Bakewell puddings too ! ( how did we get into this Phil?).
  3. Don't suppose they're on their own Phil. You've only got to look in such as Aldi and Lidl and see some of the products are almost identical to branded names. (Just as good though).
  4. This is the pie I bought. Got it from Iceland and it's most enjoyable. No mention of Melton.
  5. Mine didn't say it were a Melton pie. It says on the label Mowbray farm.
  6. PHIL !! THAT'S THE BEST BIT OF PORK PIE. Just received a Mowbray farm pork pie from Iceland delivery. On reading the label it says, "Mowbray farms, North Yorkshire !! Have yet to try it, tea time will tell.
  7. Why don't you get a decent jelly round pork pies anymore ? Dripping jelly is gorgeous on any bread or better still, toast.
  8. Towd it afore.....Me initials stretched out a long way,.
  9. Your right Ayup, it takes somebody across the pond to put me right.
  10. As kids, when things were a bit short, we have made do with bread and lard with a light sprinkle of salt. I mean proper lard and not the rock hard bricks that you get nowadays. Original lard was more creamy texture with a bit of jelly on the bottom. Quite nice really.
  11. If memory serves me right, the original Prefab houses all had gas fridges. Remember my Aunt Ethel, who lived on Cinderhill road had one. You can still get gas/12v electric fridges for caravans and boats.
  12. My pleasure SG, your more than welcome.
  13. A picture especially for Stavertongirl, for no other reason than I like it and know she likes dogs. I know they're NOT dogs but I like em and so, 'Thats my day".
  14. I have a tattoo of Andy Capp on my right arm and Florrie on my left arm. These were done about 1960, somewhere on Alfred Street central, I believe. Florrie , on the left was done with two needles stuck in a cork and black ink, ( sure it was Zebrite black lead). Often been asked, do I regret it? The straight answer is NO, I knew what I were doing and never think about it at all now.
  15. As a kid my brothers and I used to love bread and condensed milk or golden syrup.
  16. I'll come and grovel at your feet for scraps Squire !
  17. Coo !! Are you posh enough to have pudding? I have to make do with a look at the honey jar.
  18. More power to your elbow Phil. Each to his own, I reckon. (I've just finished water biscuits and cheese)!
  19. Very glad to hear your news MD. I'm only sorry I can't get up to say hello in person. Please pass on our very best wishes, even though she's no idea who we are. So pleased for you mate. Take care. Kindest regards. B.
  20. Shoulda got Emus PP, they won't fly away......Or perhaps rabbits. ( There's a bloke near us, breeds ostriches, honest !)
  21. Is that the one that was opposite to what is now Bramcote crematorium? If it is, I believe it to be Moor Farm. Had our son's 18th birthday bash there in 1985 (February). The bus we'd hired for our guests from Snape Wood, broke down on the way back at 11.30pm, near Bilborogh grammar school. It was snowing and bloody freezing.
  22. Or............."Better than a poke in the eye wi' a sharp stick".
  23. I had a look on some of those clips Ben, If I'd been one of those p.o. employees, I would have give that cameraman a smack in the mouth with his constitution.
  24. There's your answer then Pianoman, sell em to Morrisons.
