LizzieM 9,510
Tomorrow I'll be upgrading my iPhone 4 to an iPhone 6. I've already got the new phone and have charged it up but my son, who's given me the phone, says I have to save everything on the old phone into iCloud, then bring it back into new phone. When he said that my eyes glazed over! Can somebody tell me in very simple terms what I have to do please? I also have the problem of the lost/stolen iPad on my mind. I can apparently 'delete' that iPad which I think means all my personal information will be cleaned off it, of course that may have been done already by whoever has it now. BUT, if I 'delete' the iPad via the 'Find My Phone app, will it also delete all those photos that are also on the old phone! I do feel pretty dumb asking for help but I have a great ability of clicking on the wrong thingy.
catfan 14,793
Not being a phone freak Lizzie, but can't you use the same login details for both phones ? I do this with two different machines, one a PC & the other one a Chromebook but that is Google Drive. Whether iphones allow this or not I don't know, wish I knew the answer for you. Enigma. 1,533
connect your existing phone to itunes and make sure you have the relevant boxes ticked and sync it and then connect your new phone and it will ask you if you wish to treat it as a new phone or restore from the backup you have made previously Go to Find My iPhone on iCloud.com.Click All Devices. In the list, the dot next to the device indicates its status - delete the relevant device from the list

FLY2 10,108
Lizzie, I can only presume that your hubby is not technically minded, is that right? Could he not at least read the instructions to you?
LizzieM 9,510
FLY, he's worse than me with this technology! I've backed up both our phones in iCloud now (I hope), thanks everyone for your help. I'll have to deal with the next episode tomorrow when O2 cut us off!
