OK. Not even sure if the dreaded 'itch' is definitely down to dust mites, but that idea is firmly lodged in my head now so, the little sods have to go.. whether they're guilty or not..

Went out early and ordered a new bed and mattress. Home for a bite then out again for colour cards.  I'm going to start painting the bedroom tomorrow.  Not a big job.. just an average sized room with half the walls taken up with fitted 'robes. So, ceiling, a bit of wall and a little glosswork.  Nothing to a craftsman of my skill...

Checked with the local council and booked 'bulky waste' removal of the old bed.  £ 16:50.  The bed co. wanted £55.

Have also decided that I'll 'hoik' the old bed out well before delivery of the new one and get the bedroom carpet steam cleaned.  It looks spotless and is not remotely worn, but it's only ever been hoovered.  Spare room is available..

Mrs Col has had a new duvet and anti allergen mattress cover stashed, still wrapped, brand new, never used in her 'den'.  They will be pressed into service immediately, and the year old pillows are also going.  A pillow costs the same as a bottle of cheap brandy, so I'm not messing about.

When that's done, I shall get the soft furnishings in the living room cleaned.

I shall prevail!!!  :aggressive:

I’m here again with a question DJ360 don’t know if you have already answered this. Is it possible to suddenly become more sensitive to something that never bothered you before? Or would you have reacted to something new and this made you react to things that were always in your environment? If so quite a scary thought as any one of us could end up with “the itch”.

Have you thought Col., if you do eventually cure your ' itch ' and hopefully you will, you won't have anything to post about. You'll be lost for words !

As far as I can tell, allergies can develop at any time and it's impossible, for now, to predict who will become allergic to what, and when.

This explains it pretty well:

https://health.howstuffworks.com/diseases-conditions/allergies/allergy-basics/why-severe-allergies-can-suddenly-pop-up-in-adulthood.htm

The odd thing for me is that when my allergic reaction was at it's height, I showed no allergy to mites, but weeks later, when things were calming down a bit, I did.

Go figure!  As our American cousins say..
