philmayfield 6,212
Walked out of there 30 years ago as the food didn’t appear. Perhaps if I go back again it may be there! It looked closed when I passed last week.
philmayfield 6,212
Yes, just checked, permanently closed. Won’t get that lunch now!
philmayfield 6,212
It's probably like Chinese food. A westernised adaptation of the real thing. Most of the so called Indian food eaten here was invented in the UK.
denshaw 2,878
Went to Dog and Duck at Kings Clipstone last week, food was average but had to wait 1 hour 40 after ordering. It wasn't even busy.
philmayfield 6,212
Perhaps it was freshly prepared and not from Brake Brothers! I've just looked at Trip Advisor and they do get a lot of bad reviews.

letsavagoo 965
If anyone does visit Newark the Prince Rupurt which I'd quite close to the market place does very good food. Pizzas are very good but it's not cheap.
PeverilPeril 3,292
We are visiting Newark on Sat on the way to Lincoln, where we will be staying for the night, I understand that Lincoln is one of the worst places for visitors parking?
philmayfield 6,212
Parking is not great but there is a signposted park and ride uphill.
plantfit 7,655
New-ish car park off West Parade near the Brayford pool,or the new car park near the new Bus station (transport hub) just off Pelham bridge (A15) Rog
PeverilPeril 3,292
Thanks guys - I got it wrong - I meant Newark on the Sat as being bad for parking. Our hotel in Lincoln has it's own parking.
philmayfield 6,212
You can park for free in Waitress car park for 2 hours and walk in over Trent Bridge. Otherwise I would suggest Tolney Lane car park or the the one opposite near Castle Station/Council headquarters. If you park in Tolney Lane you can cross via Trent Bridge or go via Town Lock and cross the river there and come out at the top of Millgate. The town is over the road. If you don't mind a longer walk there is a retail park on Northgate (Currys, Boots etc) where you can park for free all day.
plantfit 7,655
If you park in the retail park car park it's free,no time limit, just walk down past the old Oast houses (to the left of the shops as you look at them) to the riverside walk, turn left and follow it over the white bridge, carry on to Trent bridge over there and you are in newark, about 15 minute walk Rog

benjamin1945 16,235
Regarding Farndon........used to deal with a VG shop there,,,can't remember the couple that owned it........but do remember them coming to an open night at Gibsons Daybrook. I recall because one of Gibsons Reps was a great friend of mine,,,and to say he was off the wall would be putting it mildly. He had this obsession of shouting ''Wallop'' at every opportunity. On intro to the lady from Farndon he shouted ''WALLOP'' and her Wig shot up off her head,,,very funny at the time...
