Jill Sparrow 10,316
Remember all those brass and copper ornaments everyone had years ago? My mum used Brasso to clean them all once a month! They always shone. Think we had Goddards Silver Dip for cleaning silver. I still use it.
benjamin1945 16,181
Along with Brasso they also manufactured Silvo......did'nt have as much Silver as Brass,so sales were much less.........
Cliff Ton 10,479
I remember Brasso. My grandparents on Grimston Road had one of those fireplace sets of poker, tongs, brush and pan, which were all shiny brass. I was fascinated by them.

The only bit that was not hand made was the broom head. Mum and dad had it for years, don't know what happened to it when they got gas.

Woodwork was a "box" with a foot shaped rest on top to keep your shoe polish, brushes and rags in and finally a round coffee table made of veneer faced chipboard with plastic trim glued on to hide the edge and screw in round legs. I remember spending ages getting a good finish on the top of the table.
