Ashley 288
And what was it?
Cliff Ton 10,505
Is it a quiz, or do you know? I'd guess it's the base of a column on a building or bridge etc
Paulus 541
is it a well?
.... 23
Might be an urban setting. Bit of what looks like graffiti in the background.
Ashley 288
yes guess you could class it as a quiz, had to crop pic ture as a wider view would give it away, it is within the city
mick2me 3,033
Railway related?

lynmee 38
The old Trent Bridge
poohbear 1,360
Looks like a bit of the Lenton Abbey...but that's not the 'city'
Compo 10,328
In one of the cemeteries? Forest Road or the one at Canning Circus; or perhaps part of the old church wall at the church just up fro the Salutation?
Ashley 288
I would have said Lenton Abbey within the city, perhaps my age but to me anywhere within the old "bus protection signs" was the city, not that it's part of that abbey, nor part a church, the castle, trent bridge, in a cemetery or railway related, Stu noticed something, and Cliff Ton on the right lines, Wish I could give a better view or clue but it would give it away
Beefsteak 305
Ha'penny bridge , Medders
littlebro 234
Is it the tunnel your were looking for?
Compo 10,328
is it a well? It looks to be roughly 3ft diameter, which is about the same as the well in our garden. Could it be the remains of St. Anne's Well?
Compo 10,328
The old road bridge at the top of Arnot Hill Park, can't remember the road name. Taken from the railway embankment? ISTR the stone walling up there, although it is 30 years ago so I'm probably wrong.
Ashley 288
No near correct guesses so far, I would say it is maybe 10ft in diameter so those stones quite large, one clue I will give is it's to do with water
mgread1200 141
River Leen aquaduct Just a guess!

Cliff Ton 10,505
Is it one of those horse troughs at the side of the road, such as the one at the end of Sherwood Rise
Compo 10,328
I was thinking this way earlier but couldn't remember any likely places in the city: Is the graffiti on a pair of disused lock gates on a Nottingham canal somewhere, perhaps the Trent end of the Grantham Canal? Or the Canal basin by London Road?
Ashley 288
Compo's getting close!
.... 23
I've an idea it's a type of sump or drainage feature of some kind in the foot of a dried up canal as Compo suggests. I know that ROT is your area Ash so I had wondered if it was on the Grantham Canal in the dry bit from Fosse Bridge near Cotgrave? I realise that's not really 'town' though. Might it be the dried up Nottingham Canal near Lambourne Drive at Wollaton?
lynmee 38
The old public toilets on London Rd at side of the canal near the canal bridge
mgread1200 141
Knowing Ashley it's the old base of a water filling station for the steam trains of the sixties
