  1. From the Range (and most other places), it will be cheap and made in China. The solution you would think is to pay more and get a better-quality appliance. Except even if you spent £125 and came away with a premium brand SMEG you would still have a toaster made in China with the same gubbins inside as the one from the Range.

  2. For those cats that are not kept at home during the day and indoors overnight then in my view the only good cat is a flat cat. I regularly see the remains of our local native wildlife, not just birds, killed by both domestic and feral animals. There are many cat repellant plants you can put in the garden, we have a number of lavender plants around and never see any cats. Rosemary and Oregano work well too.

  4. I don’t get the point of including 18th century conditions in post WW2 economics. The German economic miracle was in part due to the Marshall plan and the reunification only occurred in 1990. Nor should we forget the UK only cleared its war debts in 2006. Quote: No European country contributed anything to the huge war debt incurred by the UK with the USA. You mention several points behind the economic growth in Europe yet they prove nothing. The same applies to the whole of the continent and it is how governments take advantage that drives things forward. To

  5. It is a case of the do gooders and pacifists doing immeasurable damage to society with their half brained ideas. If the punishment isn't a deterrant then it needs to be increased until it is. Never mind the usual bleat about human rights, they are what normal law respecting people should expect to be honoured, not the low life criminal fraternity.

  6. Agriculture is never quite straight forward; I've never met a farmer that wasn't complaining as they climb onto their £100,000 laser and GPS controlled tractors. When we were in the common market there were wine lakes, millions of litres of milk poured down the drain and beef mountains. It was a shambles (maybe still is), under the Common Agriculture Policy. At the moment we are paying farmers not to grown anything under a system called 'set aside'. The obverse of that is farmers selling good land for housing. There is no easy answer.

  7. So who is going to police action against these thieves and how are they supposed to do it? Yet again, it looks like the bad guys are winning or are the police too busy pursuing hate crimes.

  8. Forest - Three people shy of 29,000 fans saw Forest get a convincing and very welcome 3-1 win over Fulham at the City Ground last night that moves them 3 points clear of the relegation zone. Hudson Odoi opened Forest's account in the 9th minute. Chris Wood again got his name on the score sheet in the 19th minute and Morgan Gibbs-White sent Forest in 3-0 at half time with a goal in time on. Fulham came out looking like a different team in the second half and chances were there for both teams to add to their tallies. The woodwork saved both teams in a frenetic second half. 9. Forest were amazing tonight. They played like they were title contenders in the first half and completely outplayed Fulham to deservedly go in 3-0 up at half time. It could have been 5-0 in all honesty. Fulham staged a bit of a comeback in the second half. They certainly upped their game and pulled a goal back but Forest's defence stood firm brilliantly marshalled by the outstanding Ryan Yates and some great goalkeeping from Belgian International Matz Sels. There is absolutely no way Forest will go down if they can play like that in their remaining games. They were brilliant.

  10. I have to say Oz with those figures I'd find it difficult to call them a rip-off. They make a lot of money, but to the individual customer a net profit of £4/5 per 100 is actually more than reasonable and considerably lower than most industries. It would be easy to blame the cost of living on the rise in shoplifting but as Ben will attest stealing from shops has always been with us. It has also steadily increased and the rise in population, the apparent lack pf respect for the law plus no fear of punishment must have some bearing on why that is. I don't some steal in an act of desperation
