      A woman after my own heart. We have two rescue cats, first time we have had females in 40 years and unbelievably they get on with all the other neighbourhood cats of which there are a fair few! Although there is some growling, no scrapping, they don’t seem to be as territorial as males.

      My eldest is a sixteen year old tabby. She's Top Cat and knows it. Likes everyone else to know it too!  Then there's my seven year old very naughty boy. Feline Brain of Britain he will never be but is gorgeous. Lastly, my five year old boy. Scared of his own shadow but does like to play fight with my other boy. Loves his many toys and doesn't have a nasty bone in his body.

       

      All three are rescues. I love cats!

      Yeah I love cats too, our latest were a mom and 2 kittens, having lost our 16 year old to old age and a heart condition. Unfortunately one of the new brood was run over at a year old but thankfully we still have the other two.

    Jeff Leadley’s dad was the Dr. Leadley at Cropwell Bishop yes, one of the best doctors I ever had. We lived on Radcliffe Road in Cropwell Butler from the early 70’s. I actually hated it as had moved from Tollerton and had to get 2 buses to school in WB. Yes I would live there now but not mid teens. Mrs B

    Jeff Leadley of Leadley cars unfortunately died after a car crash at Thruxton. I used to know him when he lived at Colton Bassett and attended West Bridgford College. Lovely guy. Also, my cousin Howard Duke owned Fine Cars near the Futurist cinema. Mrs B

    Lizzie that’s awful, but yes would have been hilarious. Yes she wasn’t employed by WB Grammar so must have done the rounds. She was lovely and a great cellist. I can remember taking my cello on the school bus which was always an achievement.

      I can imagine the struggle you had dragging it onto the bus!  I only managed the Triangle and Recorder so didn’t need to take them home to practice.  
      your comment about your Maths teacher lobbing board rubbers …… I thought they all did that?

    I was at West Bridgford Grammar from 1966-1973. Can remember the most amazing history teacher Mr. Emerson and the head teacher Miss Latham who used to measure the girls skirts as to how high they were above the knee! Also a lovely cello teacher Mrs Lavelle who had a terrier dog she used to bring with her. We used to have lessons with her in a small classroom near the hard tennis court. Also a maths teacher who had a habit of throwing blackboard rubbers. Also the Bunsen burners in the science lab which were used to good effect when we had visitors round to cause explosions by the chemistry teac

    I can remember my dad used to drop me off at the Baptist Youth Club on Musters Road and we always used to walk down to the Slipper (unbeknown to him of course) he just used to pick me back up at the youth club at the appointed time! We then graduated to the Union after that.

    Hi, I was born on Tollerton Lane and went to the primary school there. Did you know that Mrs Gretton the head teacher when it opened had died? She was over 100 bless her. There is a website for Tollerton village which is quite interesting. I am in the process of doing an article for them when I get round to unearthing photos! Many happy memories and will always feel like it is home. Mrs B

    Hi, I can remember going swimming at Stanford in the late 60’s. Did it used to be owned by the Co op back in the day? Mrs B

    Hi Cliff Ton Oh those pictures are so sad, my dad loved working there, he used to tell us about all the tobacco that had to be disposed of (accompanied by customs). Think it used to be incinerated. Also remember they used to get their best baccy from Rhodesia (as was) and then had to swap to other markets including British American tobacco. I can remember visiting their offices in North Carolina and there was an area that was like a shrine to John Player with all sorts of memorabilia. Mrs B

    My dad worked for Players for 40 years, my mother reckoned she only married him for the free cigs! I always justified smoking Players to keep my mother getting her share of my dad’s pension which was a substantial amount. He ended his time there as the manager of the bonded warehouse on Triumph Road (the big white building, not sure if it’s even still there) Mrs B

    I was in the single storey building by the west gate entrance opposite Fields hangar on the far side of the hangar. Ended up working for them off and on for almost 30years, till they were bought up by BA.

    Petal (Keith) was the best DJ, remember dancing on the stage at the Union in the late 60’s early 70’s with Grahame from Forest Fields, Lindsay from Bobbers Mill, Roger, Ian (remember the Mick Jagger dancing)Cliff and Jill from WB, Caron, Helen and Gill. Also Roy at the bar. Great times and music like Samba Pa Ti and Layla. Remember throwing glasses down from the terrace outside onto the grass and collecting them on the way to the car on the way home. Oops. Used to park in the car park under what was the Bridgford Hotel.

    The Rheingold was originally owned by Captain Peter Van Hooff and Jenny Holmes who worked for British Midland Airways in the 70’s.
