  1. Sorry for the late answer, the family name was Baker. I will speak to the mother in law later for more details. One of the sons lived in a house at the Hucknall rd- Arnold rd junction it backed onto the railway and was known as the railway house, He emigrated to Oz in the 60s or 70s.
  2. The offices on Castle Boulevard, at the bottom of castle rock are being converted into luxury apartments.
  3. Went past the Sycamore in St Anns today, been knocked down, all that is left is a pile of bricks.
  4. I had surround sound running through an amp, it sounded good, but the wife complained about the 5 speakers, she said that they looked a mess! we now have a sound bar on a shelf under the tv. Probably should have kept the speakers and got rid of the wife. Got the amp set up in my shed with just 2 speakers, sounds good.
  5. I saw them this morning, they were parked in a layby at Gamston. I took a few photos, but they are not very good. I need a new phone.
  6. A bit of an update, car has been written off today, insurance have offered a bit more than what the car is worth. Police sergeant has just told me that they have spoken to the driver, who admits the crash, but thought that they had hit a lamp post whilst doing a 3 point turn! They have given me all of the insurance details. The surprising thing is that the driver was a young girl. Insurance company have been excellent, collected the car monday, and dropped off a courtesy car at the same time, assessed it and contacted my engineer, who decide to write the car off, I thought that the process
  7. On checking the date on the headlight sticker it is- 07/08/12, so the car was obviously built after this date. When I enlarge the photos of the white car you can easily see black paint. So I decided to go to Radford road police station myself, I asked to see the duty sergeant, but was told that the people on the desk will deal with it. I stated my case and was told that the sergeant would now see me. On explaining everything to the lady sergeant, who was very pleasent, she said that she would check out the reg no, and see what it comes up with. Within 15 minutes of me leaving the station s
  8. Mick, i was unsure about posting the second photo, but thought it would be ok, as it is a car parked on a street. so my apologies.
  9. Wife got up ay 7.00am on Saturday to go to work, and was met with this. We have cctv and replayed it and saw that a small white car had crashed into her car at 02.30. and then just drove away. I reported it to the police who gave me a crime number and arranged to view the cctv on Sunday between 5 and 8pm. The police rung me on Sunday and told me that it was pointless viewing the cctv, as unless they could see the number plate it was not proof. Whilst clearing up the debris I found a part of the headlamp that had a date on it and a part number, it corresponded to a Vauxhall corsa 2011 onwar
  10. Tomlinson, if you put blueys into the search box in the right hand corner, it will put up some earlier comments, as well as a picture. Not sure how to link a previous post.
  11. It says in the Post today that the Lancaster will fly over Radcliffe on trent golf club, on route to Carlton, so a good spot would be on the old railway viaduct, which is at the side of the RSPCA kennels on the main Radcliffe road.
  12. Breeze, is a free magazine in the Beeston area, mostly adverts and in colour.
  13. Seems strange that a waste water pipe is coming out of the roof area. Proper cowboy builder.
  14. We have replaced a few lights, with leds they are supposed to last for ages, most have failed sooner than a normal bulb. They are very expensive as well.
  15. I was at the Hilton hotel this morning, so I had a look at these buildings. The frontage is stone cladding, but the sides are brick, it is not the same brick as the hotel, it is a lot darker. The brickwork looks old, possibly pre war, the building also has large decorative cast iron downpipes, and the building that is Ladbrokes has old steel framed windows. It looks like the buildings have been extended upwards at some time.
  16. I have seen a couple of multiplas with the large name sticker on the side changed to uglitapa.
  17. The retail park was opened in 1994, it seems a lot longer than that.
  18. This is quite a good map of the area from the 1930s. http://www.visionofbritain.org.uk/maps/sheet/lus_stamp/eng_lus_054
  19. The British Geological survey people at Keyworth have a site showing most boreholes, handy to look at to see what is being planned. http://mapapps.bgs.ac.uk/geologyofbritain/home.html?mode=boreholes
  20. I passed this the other day on my way back from Tamworth, it is now an Indian restaurant.
  21. mrgodber, the area shown on the maps clifton posted, are not on the Radford map. They are on the Nottingham NW 1913. Pepper street is not shown, but lindsay st and forest st are.
  22. We have a small coop at the bottom of the street, wife goes in most days for something, she got a money off voucher the other day, £5.00 off your next transaction, seemed ok but reading it properly you have to spend £50.00. I doubt if we will be using it.
  23. He would have to do a few weeks as a politician or banker, before being considered.
