  1. The statue at the Wilford end of the Embankment is Sir Robert Clifton. It's still there.
  2. The Govt website says you'll get a letter "...in October or November...." so they're probably just slow off the mark. I received mine last week, but several people here obviously got theirs some time before that.
  3. It's me and denshaw as Moderators (only Moderators, not Admin). The only person with Admin powers is Mick2me, and it's quite a long time since he made an appearance here.
  4. That made me check Schwarzenegger's age. He's currently 76, so fairly young by Nottstalgia standards.
  5. This is going to be one of those topics which gets no response for several months/years, and then somebody recognises the subject. Don't hold your breath.
  6. I've been on tablets for high BP for around 15 years. They seem to work well and keep me down to a sensible figure. I've never had any problems or side effects from taking BP - either by myself or by anyone else.
  7. A few from this morning near Trent Bridge. The wall near the Town Arms which shows the previous high levels. There should be a footpath here.
  8. That's a very impressive number PP.
  9. And yet here it's been unseasonably warm for the last few days. Having to get summer clothes out again.
  10. It's an unusual name, and I'm pretty certain I know him. Is/was he a graphic designer ? He was my boss at a place I worked in the late 1970s.
  11. It's an interesting sign of the times that someone can have a relatively major operation, and 10 minutes later be posting about it on social media !
  12. Lenton Times have a few new photos of Dunkirk Fire Station, some of which I hadn't seen before. https://www.lentontimes.co.uk/streets/dunkirk_firestation.htm
  13. I used to always 'Accept All' on the grounds that you ultimately can't avoid them anyway. Recently I've started rejecting them, and a lot of the time the end result doesn't seem to be any different.
  14. You also notice it when you visit websites which have adverts down the side, or among the main text. The adverts change depending on who you are and what you’ve recently been looking at online. The algorithms see what you’ve been browsing, and then play adverts connected to your searches.
  15. Exactly. I get mine from https://www.cartridgepeople.com/ who are much cheaper than Canon original prices.
  16. Hand and Heart on Derby Road is reopening after a big refit. https://www.nottinghampost.com/whats-on/food-drink/historic-nottingham-pub-hand--8824741?fbclid=IwAR0sUXZpvH4IJJbqQxfAruEe3BgltlZmIgEy_QGSqjMILiIJW7PBvNAWGTY
  17. I normally would have no interest in anyone who falls into the category of Willoughy-alikes; people who make the headlines simply for being there. But in her case I’ll make an exception this time. Since it was announced that a psycho-nutter has been arrested for plotting to kidnap and murder her, she's found herself in the news for all the wrong reasons, so deserves some sympathy.
  18. I think all school caretakers were treated like that in those days.
  19. I wonder if there was anywhere in Nottingham where people danced like that ?
  20. I haven't been there (not my musical thing), but I know someone who's been there often. It mainly depends on your musical taste. The atmosphere and ambience seem to be pretty good - but drinks/food are perhaps a bit more expensive than a 'normal' pub/club.
  21. When I hear people using the F-word very frequently (almost every other word) it sounds comical and ridiculous; completely the opposite to what they probably intend. It makes them appear even more moronic than they are.
  22. Surprisingly warm today. I didn't expect a return to t-shirt weather.
  23. Small world. On a couple of occasions when I was a kid, we did that exact same journey to Woodhouse Eaves and The Beacon Hill.
