  1. Ayup all, Paid a visit to the city of my birth today, met a mate from Leicestershire to show him round, great day had by both of us, a visit to Brewhouse yard followed by a drink in the Trip followed by a visit to the castle. the city has changed a lot since I lived there but the old tourist routes are still there, sorry to see Garners Hill being buried under more concrete, tried to explain to my mate the three hills, Garners,Middle and Drury but with them all gone and the view disrupted by new buildings it was impossible to get the view across Broad marsh and Narrow marsh as I remember them,

Reliant Robin followed by two more, until I passed my test for a "proper Car" then got a newish Rover 216 SLI followed by Vauxhalls as well as the company Toyota Hi Lux pickup, one thing about the Reliant though, they made you realise how vulnerable you are on todays roads, you don't have to rely on air bags, traction control, ABS etc to make you safe on the road, you had to rely on your skills as a driver Rog
  11. Ayup Limey, Back in the early eighties I was invited to go down the caves on Peel street by the Nottingham civic society to have a look round and to see if it would be viable to clear them out and open them to the public. It started off by going through a locked steel door and down about twenty concrete steps into an old air raid shelter, from there through a small hole cut in the sand stone and along a passage way that was part of the original sand mine, this went towards the rock cemetery where our guide told us there was a cave in during mining operations back in the 1700s, some miners wer

  20. Ayup BIB, I heard that story and I can tell you out here in hayseed county all the eastern Europeans are fishing for food, they don't seem to understand that over here fishing is done for sport and the fish are returned to the water, they've also been taking swans for the table, so a lot of unhappy people around the Brayford pool in the center of Lincoln. I'm sure one day WE will integrate with the immigrant population though. Rog
