  2. Roses would look good on the side, although I do like to see castles I think they would look better in a taller background Rog

  9. Everywhere closed except the Liberal club mate, Ingoldmels, Chapel st Leonard, , Sutton and Mablethorpe the same apart from a Spar type shop in Mablethorpe, nice walk along the sea front at Skeg though, I did help some bloke push a wheel chair with his wife in it up the ramp to the beach, poor sod was struggling, he later told me he had just had a knee operation, he wished us a happy Christmas and away we went, all toilets were locked in Skeg as well Could have just eaten some chips too, there was a board outside one ice cream stall stating Donuts and Ice cream £4.75, it didn't say whethe
  10. The usual Christmas morning in Skegness, weather was nice though slight breeze and a nice calm sea, asylum seekers in some sea front hotels with security guards to keep the public away, unfortunately there was a few British homeless under blankets and sleeping bags in some shop doorways, packets of crisps and bars of chocolate distributed we came home via Mablethorpe and Louth, have a great day everyone Rog
  11. 25 years ago tomorrow it was blowing a gale and the snow was going sideways and I have never known it so cold, oh and we got married Rog
  12. I used to do the same with my basket and rod holdall but all I want to do now is set up the gear, do a bit of fishing for half hour or so then move down stream to another likely looking spot and fish that for half hour or so then move again, at the moment I tie the rod and landing net pole to the cross bar of my bike and put the tackle in a backpack, taking a full size seatbox would be too cumbersome so I'm going to try one of these I could chuck all the gear in the car and drive to the river with all the specialist tackle you see on the big rivers but all I want to do is ro
  13. I think the day passes for the tram are good value, I've been on all the routes just for the experience and really enjoyed every mile and thought it was money well spent, Edinburgh trams are on a par with the Notts one until you go to the end of the line to the airport then the price rises quite a bit Rog
  14. (Update on the new venture) Went down to the river this morning as a try out, tied the rod and landing net pole to the bike like I used to when I was a kid, few bits of tackle and a reel in my back pack and set off, twelve minutes bike ride to the river, lift the bike over the locked gate and climbed over hinge side, walked along the bank for about thirty feet and started to set up, problem 1, I need a bank stick with rod rest on, 2, be good to have something to sit on, 3 take an old towel to wipe my hands on, 4, forgot to take the landing net (doh), as it was the river is still too high and f

  16. Temple Bruer, a Templar church/site from way back Rog
  17. Scotwater bridge at normal level, I think this is the bridge you went over Phil near Norton Disney, private fishing there, you need to be a member of Collingham AA to fish it and it's one of those clubs that aren't looking for new members at this time (or any time from what I've been told) the stretch I can fish is about a mile upstream from here at Stapleford [/ur Did you buy any antiques from Navenby or just visiting, have you been to Mrs Smiths cottage yet for a look around or called in at the tea rooms for a cuppa and a slice of cake? Rog

  22. Nice bike ride down to the upper river Witham yesterday where I have permission to fish to see if the river is fishable yet looking towards the village of Stapleford Looking toward the ranges at Beckingham at normal levels the river is about three feet deep and fifteen feet wide but yesterday the river was at least ten to twelve feet deep and fifty feet wide and really fast flowing, So might be able to have a go at fishing it next week, (weather permitting) Rog
  23. Was thinking that myself Phil Rog
  24. Well since I have set myself up with some fishing tackle, rod reel, hooks, line floats etc obtained a fishing licence from the EA and got permission from the land owner to fish this stretch of the upper Witham it has been in flood to the extent it is over the flood banks and on the fields and local roads so is unfishable in fact you cant even see the normal route of the river so as yet I haven't been fishing so nothing to report on my progress (much to the relief of a lot of you) never mind theres still a bit of bike riding to do but not along the lanes near the river Rog
