  1. I was of the understanding that your bus pass was universal and given by the government shows how much interest i take in local affairs. Hubby has one i don't pity you can't share as it he never gets on a bus.
  2. Made me think of the christmas cards that were around when i was a child, lovely memories.
  3. Never more true Margie, I retired at 58 we had 3 months just doing nothing then sorted out things to do. School was my natural place to go and have never regretted it only 3 sessions a week sometimes its enough. hubby is a golfer and watches rugby, my mum and aunty run the library at their assisted living accommodation gives them an interest.
  4. As I have mentioned before my daughter has a above the knee amputation and is suffering with phantom pains her medication does not help very much. There is a forum which offers help to people like her and many members say cannabis oil works , her problem is will she become addicted she is on a lot of medication so needs no more problems. Any advice would be welcome. Gem
  5. I found you all by accident when looking for Shipstones Brewery, it has provided hubby with lots of memories and found things he never knew. Lived all his life in Basford so you enabled him through your posts to see how things changed, so nobody throw your dummies out of the pram keep going. Gem
  6. I also use lavender oil mainly on my wrists and thumb joints works for me. I have started to use ginger fresh sliced in hot water or if that does not appeal eat two pieces of crystalized ginger also good for digestion.
  7. Hope there is no chance of the irish nectar freezing that would be a major disaster in this house.
  8. Correct Carni, i have a few pairs of the spaniels in other houses, if you would like a larger picture i will send one. I realise that a bigger pic is better for detail have only recently found out how to download them properly. Looking at the antique shop room a lot of dust in there must get a cleaner.
  9. Carni, have put two pictures in the games you used to play thread you might like. Gem
  10. Our house was bult in 1863 Carni, we have a small amount of garden at the front where i have pots its not really suitable for growing anything but shrubs. The back yard is big and has decking and again lots of pots but its not the same as having a lawn. Full agreement about the housework and even more so when it comes to my doll houses.
  11. I envy you your lovely garden Carni, we just have a back yard when our house was built gardens were not the priority.
  12. That would be one thread that i will never comment on....
  13. Its just as well i don't go to sleep early, my grandaughter has just sent me pictures of 8 new born Jack Russel puppies and an excited meassage. I told her she should get some sleep but she said not until they make sure all pups are born, once they leave home they grow up so fast.
  14. My first teacher when started school was scary and hard, she was tall and thin with grey hair, she checked us every morning hands/face and neck. If you were not clean to her standards a slap on the back of the head followed and you were sent to clean the offending part, Miss Twitchet was her name.
  15. Oh, I have deleted some of my photos once they were posted on NS, mainly to keep from saving to many, as my son would say "stop pressing things when you don't know what your doing" so true.
  16. Can anyone tell me why some of my images have been removed, or is it something i have done. Gem
  17. Remember the saying "many a true word spoken in jest" get ready to protest.
  18. I also used google they surely can't name the square after a fair ground family, the are so many famous Nottingham people more deserving. Is it not a wind up but then councils these days have to much power and very little brain power.
  19. Catfan i have been reading old posts on this topic and came across the Langham and rats. Hubby said that late at night there were so many rats the lads would use them for target practice, never sure if i should believe him but he has been vindicated. Gem
  20. Waitrose black cherry preserve with lurpack butter, will eat marmalade but it has to have no bits in it.
  21. I still use a hot water bottle when its cold, the base of my back aches and its nearly instant relief. Used to scrape ice from inside of windows usually in a snowflake pattern.
  22. Use air dry clay Margie, dries white so its easy to paint. I will take some pics of my little people and post them, my grandaughter does not like them says they are creepy. An over active imagination she won't sleep in a room if there are people in the houses.
  23. Any progress is good progress keep it up, stick to a bath showers are useless. In a bath you can read have a cuppa stay in for an hour try doing that in a shower. Just don't forget to keep you'r water hot.
  24. I never had a lot of patience Lizze but 18mths in a wheelchair changes things, years later more patience than ever.
  25. Rog, i did highlight the line you suggested maybe something i have done when taking image. Never mind maybe its to do with the image size i selected will have a look. Gem
