  1. Click on the pic and it says in the bottom corner crete01.jpg so I assume its Crete
  2. Really the only other place I would want to live in the Nottinghamshire area would be somewhere off the A60, say Wysall or Bradmore. Not keen on Keyworth though. I quite like Kinoulton too. The only way this could happen though is if I won the lottery but as I don't do it...........................
  3. I'm perfectly OK where I am. Got everything I need around me in this area.
  4. I have a 2X Great Grandfather on my Mother's side who was Theophlilus. Pleased I didn't inherit that one!
  5. Hmm yes. Well you know about mine. William Cumberpatch Harvey. At least for the benefit of my Dad's parents marriage certificate LOL!
  6. I don't think giving your offspring's a middle name that was your mothers maiden name is necessarily Scottish. My family has a Fanny Stapleton Walker and a William Jeyes Cumberpatch. And then there was Isambard Kingdom Brunel. No Scots! Right selection of names there too!
  7. I have heard that story before. Its always Windy Wendy to me and why has this box that I am typing in changed the colour of its border from grey to a mildew greeny colour?
  8. My mother was Joan. You don't hear that one now. Personally I don't like it but I do like the Irish derivative - Siobhan
  9. Well my second name is Edward. Which is OK but I really dislike it abbreviated in any way especially when it gets down to Ted!
  10. I hate to hear of anyone called Harvey! Bad enough having it as a piggin surname! Shane is a pet hate for me too, its just not masculine. Or should I say it sounds too feminine!
  11. Thanks folks. No wonder I couldn't find it at Hyson Green!!
  12. Seeing that map has just prompted me to ask a question I have been meaning to ask for a while. Does anyone know where Harold Road was? My Grandmother would have lived there in the 1910's until her parents died, both by 1918. She was born at 40 Belton Street which still survives but I have no idea where Harold Road was. I would have thought it was in the area of that map above but I can't see it.
  13. I shall have been at my present address for 57 years come July. Somewhat longer than either of my parents lived here. My father wanted to move on after my mother died (he needed someone to do his dinners and his dotty washing) and I bought the place off him.
  14. Its perfectly OK providing you keep off Aspley Estate!
  15. I got 27 and have eyes like a hawk. Best of it is I know perfectly well that I am colour blind on certain shades of blue/green if they are approaching turquoise!
  16. The family name was Cropley. My G Grandfather was William John Cropley. There was more than one of them came to Nottingham in the early 1880's. I know William's sister Florence and I believe another Brother. They were farm labourers who 'bettered' themselves by getting work at Babbington Pit! I won't know Williams address until I get his birth certificate. Prior to them moving to Nottingham I have them at Lidgate Village in Suffolk. I suppose they had to go where there was tayters to be dug up!
  17. 264 Woodborough Road. My Mothers, Fathers parents were born at Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire, but the family seems to originate from Suffolk. They came to Nottingham for a better standard of living in the early 1880's. My Mothers, mothers parents are all Radford or Hyson Green as far back as you like. My Fathers parentage - well what can I say. My Fathers mothers parentage all seems to be Nottingham most likely Basford. My Fathers Fathers parentage is where the scandal sets in. The Harvey's seem to originate from Newark, but as my family name *should* be Cumberpatch, that family is well document
  18. 500 to 6701 500 - 601. I reckon that's more than 100
  19. Taken from 1966/67 AA Handbook:
  20. I was a bit like that with my first car. It was a Ford Anglia 100E, registered 75 ETV. A few years after I had it it went to a number cruncher and got sold for its plates. It sold for similar money to yours
  21. I don't care about that too much. It is the quickest and smoothest running.
  22. Didn't think anybody still used IE. I use Chrome and Firefox - prefer Chrome.
  23. We always had Izal when I was a kid. I remember the green wrapper vividly. What was the point of it? Was there nothing better then?
  24. Seen 'em both but not for a very long time.
