About 1963 took Christine from Hibbert road Mansfield..to 'Goose Fair......and thought while we were there would show her the delights of 'Hyson Green''........'The ''Langham'' being one of em.. Whilst stood at the 'Bar'...she let out a scream... 'Whats up Duck?'' That bloke just squeezed my 'ARSE' Yea..they do that in here...tek na notice Duck... Another 'Babycham'?

Only one of my very large family of Uncles Aunts and cousins had a Telly........it was my Aunt Connie on Leybourne drive i was 8 and we all crowded in her front room to watch a tiny Telly........still recall Granddads head blocking my view......must admit i was interested even at that young age.......the Coronation and the Mathews cup final are my first memories of watching TV..........

That photo cliff ton brings back so many different memories.........1950 ish school walk across fields (before Bestwood Park was built)..........there was a farm called ''Scotties'' where we would pick Strawberries....remember jumping from a Barn onto loads of ''Hay''......and the Farmer accusing us of ;Nicking his ''Strawberries'' just because we were covered in ''Juice''....... It was also the Place where we would meet lads from 'Edwards' lane estate to arrange football matches instead of throwing stones at each other.....we'd play on the 'Camp' pitches...(Prison) In
  8. Danish Tub Butter came in Barrels to Marsdens.....weighing 112 lbs or 2 'Firkins'' Firkin heavy too. when we carried them from a lorry to the shop cellars...to keep the butter cool......
  9. Pretty sure they wern't Cliff ton...when they took over Farrands etc it opened the door for me to travel to different parts of the country which i really enjoyed.......

  13. I certainly did Lizzie...playing for Notts Corinthians in the Thursday league against the Police..early 60s......good standard of Amatuer football...... I had a run in with the so called ''Travellers''' a few years ago in Morrisons car park Bulwell........one of them threatened to beat me up for having the cheek to use the Zebra crossing in front of them in their Van..........i stood my ground and held up the traffic whilst they kept revving their engine.........and jerking towards me and opening and closing his door as if he was getting out to me...Cut a long story short the Police (havi

Think youre right JILL..........he is a lovely young big cat...reckon about a year old............when he comes in to eat you can see he's slightly nervous.......think he as a home but Donna says shes taking him to the Vet to see if he's chipped.....Babs is so relaxed with him...we thought she would be feeling pushed out if we fussed him too much.....but NO she's quite happy........i can see some expenses coming if we adopt him......Neutering etc.....but he is lovely.......if we do all that..we'll have to give him a name...thinking 'SAMBO'' what you reckon?
  17. Just got up and Babs was sat on a garden chair on the Patio with her Black boyfriend beside her....... Both saw me thru the kitchen window...and i beckoned to them...at that they ran to the back door......they were very talkative until i fed em with a pouch each of expensive whiskas''........after which they bid each other ''ta ra see ya later......good job i understand ''Cat talk''.........

Just thought i would give you an update on Babs..........as i mentioned before we sadly lost Syd.................well from being that nervous little Kitten abandoned in a shed in 'Geordie land'' over two years ago.....she has become a beautiful large long Haired happy Cat............after we lost Syd we were worried about Babs if she left the Garden......no need she goes next door and we reckon thats the limit of her travels......and the lady next door loves her same as us...... She is the most loving and laid back Cat you can imagine........and she has a set routine......sleeps on and of

Funny how you view places from your childhood days........When i was born in 1945 on Old Bestwood Estate it was always 'Suffixed'' Bulwell..((not so now)........so i consider my self a 'Bestwood Boy'' from Bulwell..........All my greater relatives came from Bulwell and most moved into Council Houses on Bestwood estate in the thirties......... Bulwell was always the ''go to'' place for shopping and we always new it as ''Bulwell Town'' The funny thing is i look back on Bulwell with very fond memories...whereas Old Bestwood sometimes gives me a sad feeling..although i couldn't have had
