I can think of many reasons why Council houses should'nt be sold...........but everyone to their opinion.

My Dad could have been his Guard Jim,........he often did that run......he was a Guard at Annesley for many years.

Quite agree Rog,.........comfy,smooth and quick..........not much to go to Toton and Clifton for though lol........would like it to go to Mansfield and obviously places on the way...........Sutton,Kirkby and Newstead Abbey.

When Marsdens/Farrands became part of Moores stores,mid 60s i think,that made them part of Lipton's as well,if my memory serves me right.,and yes they had smallish supermarkets.

When i was at Marsdens we sold Morrells button Mushrooms,and Chesswoods creamed Mushrooms,........Mam never bought any as we had lovely big Mushrooms growing in the garden on old Bestwood,also loads of Mint,not sure if that grew wild? Had a huge back Garden and me dear old Dad was never one for planting much,just left for me as a mini City ground or Lords.

Seems everywhere you look new housing is springing up,Towns and Cities getting ever closer,...ie Nottm/Derby,......then i hear on Andrew Marr show' this morning our PM saying old council estates should be bulldozed,to make room for affordable housing............whats the old council estates then ?............theres many who just can't afford the new ''affordable rent' let alone buy. Imagine Nottttingham minus Aspley,Broxtowe,Stockhill,Bilborough,Bulwell Hall,Bestwood est,Heathfield est and many more,these now older estates have provided 'Affordable housing' for many years and

I was at school with Richard Bills,.........i 'd forgot all of em untill my brother started naming em,............he said 'bleddy hell its over 40 years ago'',..Paul Randall that i named was in fact a very good player and went on to play semi pro in Norway,...........its amazing we lost so many games with him and me in the team, lol.

Catfan,got two names off my younger brother who also played john Badder and Malcolm Costello,did you know them?

Catfan,told you my Dad worked as a 'Duckie' for NCT Bulwell for a time in the 70s and you think you remembered him,......well ive just remembered i played Football for them around 1970,and they were the worst team i ever played for,some great lads though,we were regulary beat by 8 or 9 goals,home ground was Bulwell Hall Park, Ive been racking my brain and cant remember any of their names,any chance you can recall any of em ? One in particular keep nearly remembering his name and i'll know if you say it,...........big fat lad really awful player but he picked the team.
