Ah LURPAK BUTTER,used to be delivered to shops i worked in in CWT barells,i got an hernia carrying them into the shops (circa 63:) then we weighed em up into 1lb and half pound blocks on the counter as customers wanted them,same with Lard that came in 28lb blocks, i wont even mention sacks of rice and peas and gross weight being legal.or even sides of danish and Ulster bacon.younsters today would have no notion of CWT,or 5lb bags of taters.sorry got carried away this thread about butter dishes int it
  5. Jack Purdy rings a bell,i worked at farrands,marsdens,vernons,both coops all on Broxtowe lane in the 60s,and a shopfitting firm from Langley mill did all the work for Farrands/Marsdens perhaps he worked for them?

  8. Grange farm Toton,i was manager at MARSDENS,high st,long eaton in 1966,we used to supply Grange Farm with all their bacon and cheese every morning,delivered on a Granville bike by a 15year old girl,her name was Sandra Domleo.how many girls did you see on Granville bikes?

Being left handed had both advantages and disadvantages for me,in sport it was a definate advantage,but in many practical things was definate drawback,at school it was a nightmare when it came to woodwork and metalwork. i would be interested to hear of other peoples experiences on being a KEGGIE !

  20. most of us recall the hard times our parents had 50 or 60 years ago,and i think we are duty bound to ensure our kids and Grandkids know of them aswell,so they fully appreciate all the advantages they have today. heres just a few, getting the coal in, chopping wood to make the fire, wash day,with a dolly tub and ponch, oven shelf for a water bottle, make do and mend, rations, no telly, no double glazing no central heating, i am sure you can add many more!
