  1. Just read that the Aussie flu is spreading in the U.K. There are several hotspots particularly in parts of Scotland with several people very ill in hospital, but also in some Southern counties of England. Experts seem to agree that the best way to avoid it is to have the jab......
  2. If you had it, you'd probably know what to do with it!
  3. I read somewhere that bald men have higher levels of testosterone........
  4. You're doing well, Phil, still having hair to brush!
  5. Carni and Chris, so sorry you're both suffering with chest related problems.... keep taking it easy. Love to you both x
  6. My taste buds must be different to yours Phil as we both drank milk from the same crate at the same school and I loved it! When some friends of mine went on holiday or to dog shows which they did frequently, I used to milk their 2 goats twice a day and bring the milk home for our use. The milk was lovely as the goats had a controlled diet (no cabbages etc!) My mum was living with us at this particular point in our lives and she loved it too as she was brought up on a farm. We had lots of rice puddings, custards and bowls of cereals, of course. Our 4 cats and 2 dogs
  7. MI. You are being very naughty!! (But I love trees too)
  8. 'Treacle' is a term of endearment used towards those of the fairer sex, FLY so I think you're safe! Rhyming slang .....treacle tart ....... sweetheart
  9. The little house ....Bill and Ben
  10. Compo, Did you have a zoom lens to get the stag picture? Love the other photos as well - looks wild and deserted..
  11. Compo, has your feline friend got a poorly eye or been in a fight?
  12. Found this photo when I was 9 or 10 years old. Also noticed I was wearing my red and grey striped swimming costume which my mum KNITTED! It always drooped when it got wet!
  13. Your's was a posher one than mine, Lizzie. Mine was just plain pink with no flowers on.... but there again I'm older than you. I reckon I've got a black and white photo of me wearing it somewhere. I'll go and have a look.
  14. We have never considered propane because the oil is very reliable and efficient... it's just that with all the run up to Christmas and the fact that we've had the radiators on quite a bit in the cold weather, the oil ran down more quickly than usual and we forgot to order early enough! It's a bit warmer today - 5 degrees - so we're OK.
  15. We've only got 6 inches of oil left in the tank outside and the delivery isn't until Friday so we're having to economise on heating the radiators and the water. We don't have gas in the village... Fortunately we have an electric shower so that is good, until you have to get dry in a cold bathroom! I feel it's like an old fashioned Christmas without central heating - sitting in the chairs covering ourselves with blankets. We are using an old noisy electric fan heater in the living room but it's not as good as radiators! We find the oil heating is generally very good (when we order a deliv
  16. NBL. I suppose I was thinking of the Cambs and Lincs fens which. of course, are low and flat with all those huge fields and wide skies (getting a bit poetic here!). I know that people who were born in these places love the landscape but I much prefer the woods and hills in Notts and Derbyshire. We live in a village which is mainly on one of the hills near Ely so when those sea levels rise and if the sluice system at Denver fails, we will just escape being flooded (although would eventually be surrounded by the original marshy fenland...). Ugh! All those eels....
  17. The picture I had last week of a17 year old me went on without any resizing, but it was a small photo to start with - one of those 'polyphotos' where you had about a dozen photos taken so you could pick one of them to enlarge and frame, perhaps. The photos were only about 1-2 inches square
  18. PP so pleased your wife may be able to go home tomorrow. Best wishes to you both..
  19. Actually NBL, Norfolk isn't all flat.... not like Lincolnshire and much of Cambridgeshire.
  20. I don't know how to resize the photos either, Lizzie. I wanted to change my avatar to a cat but couldn't find a photo that would fit.
