  1. I'd climbed up a tree on the far right of the photograph. While I was up there I met a boy from Wollaton I think it was... Went out with him once after that I seem to remember. His name was somebody Hall I think (Ian maybe??)
  2. Is it expensive? Is there a way to send voluntary 'subs' to help fund it?
  3. Just made apple drink using my food processor - 6 whole apples -skin, core and pips - made about a pint of juice. Only had to add half a tablespoon of sugar so that's good. Not sure if I'll use the processor again, though, as I suspect the uncooked whole apples will blunt the blades if I keep doing it
  4. They are quite sour apples so will have to think about that
  5. Good idea if I can find a space to freeze any more apples. Can't use the ones already in the freezer as they are either cooked puréed or sliced with some sugar already added. I'll try....
  6. Have watched 3 of the videos about cider making - might try the one that uses a food processor to mash the apples up as it looks easier than using a pole and bucket!
  7. Really pleased to hear the good news Michael. Perhaps your wife's hair will look different from what it used to look like - I knew someone who used to have straight hair but it grew back wavy.
  8. Wouldn't know where to start in making cider!
  9. Our cooking apple tree had very few apples last year, but this year it is a huge crop - in size and quantity. I counted the good unmarked ones we have stored in boxes and there's about 150. The ones which are a bit marked I've got lined up on the kitchen windowsill to be used first and 2 freezer drawers are full of both sliced apples and purée (which saves a bit of space). We, too, have given lots away, but living in a rural community many people have the same problem! I'm making various crumbles - apples + lemon curd, apple + mincemeat, apple + blackberry, but getting a bit fed up with cr
  10. Yes, Eileen, it is a good photo - I always wonder what the silhouettes I'm talking to look like!
  11. I leave the Freesat box on all the time as the on/off for the remote control is playing up, but turn the TV off. The PC and IPad we turn off unless they are charging up. I never have any problems when everything is turned on again in the morning

Hello Joe. Pleased you're enjoying Nottstalgia
  13. Wonder why it's not been on a News programme..... Perhaps a TV documentary is already being prepared?
  14. #39. Interested that you stopped off in Cambridge, Md. I hope you found somewhere to park without breaking the Bank! I'm not surprised that your journey was disrupted by an accident - that's a frequent occurrence on the A14. When that happens, many motorists and lorries divert through our village, which isn't really good for us, but necessary for them I suppose. Little Gidding used to have a religious commune but it disbanded in the late 1990s. I love the comment from your wife about the poem.
  15. I've always wondered about the expanding universe...... If everything is moving away from everything else, does that means there must be an increasing area of empty space where the 'big bang' was? I have had it explained like the surface of an expanding balloon, where points marked on it get further apart, but there is still the space inside the balloon isn't there? I also have read that space is curved but that doesn't help me get my head around it... Any ideas?
  16. # 59. But how will I know which Ian it is? And does it matter which one anyway?
  17. I watched that programme on Multiverses - didn't really understand it all but found it fascinating. Wonder if the Margie in another 'universe' enjoyed it too! And the other Margie, and another, and another........
  18. Hello Juliaw. Enjoyed your first post
  19. Hello Robert, I hope you'll find what you're looking for.
  20. Welcome, Trismegistus. I never worked in any of the places you did, but will be interested in any memories you have of your early life in Nottingham
  21. Were the walls in Lyons a shiny green? And was there a lot of shiny chrome type fittings? I only went in there once as I remember and that was with my Mum when I was about 10 (1953)
  22. And it's even got a lift up the cliff for the oldies!!
  23. #14. My mum took me on a river boat trip to Radcliffe on Trent once. I remember there was a path leading up to a park when you got off the boat. I seem to remember coming back on a train?
  24. I think we saw that teashop earlier this month when we were at the IOW. We'd just visited Shanklin Chine where there was a really interesting exhibition about PLUTO. Before we went in, I thought "It can't be something about Mickey Mouse's dog - it must be about the planet." When I realised it was about "Pipe Line Under The Ocean" in WW2 I thought it would be a bit boring as I'm not that interested in things like that, but it was REALLY good with lots of photos, diaries and a DVD showing how the fuel pipeline was laid between here and France. It's well worth a visit if you are ever over the
