  1. Great music Ben. Released by Van McCoy in the summer of the year we emigrated. Used in so many films. This version with Pan's People really gets my motor running. https://youtu.be/V3kE0rvAJhM
  2. If you remember the case where a police officer tasered 95 year old Clare Nolan who fell, hit her head and had a bleed on the brain. Sadly she subsequently died of her injuries. The police officer Kristian White aged 33 has today been charged with manslaughter. He has formally pleaded not guilty and been released on bail until his trial is heard on 11th November, later this year
  3. It is very difficult to find something that is not "Made in China" these days. I don't think our pollie wafflers know what sovereign capability and sovereign capacity mean. Long time since I've heard the word "gubbins", it was one of my dad's favourites alongside "doins"
  4. Stags - Doncaster Rovers did the Stags a massive favour last night by beating Wrexham 1-0 at the Eco Power Stadium, sounds nowhere near as good as Belle Vue as I knew it, last night. That leaves both Stags and Stockport with a game in hand over Wrexham. Barring a major wobble I can't see any other club outside the current top three getting an automatic promotion spot. Stags play 7th placed Crawley Town at home, Stockport and Wrexham both have an easier games this weekend Stockport playing 22nd placed Sutton Utd away, whist Wrexham play 23rd placed Colchester United away. The battle for the pla
  5. For those cats that are not kept at home during the day and indoors overnight then in my view the only good cat is a flat cat. I regularly see the remains of our local native wildlife, not just birds, killed by both domestic and feral animals. There are many cat repellant plants you can put in the garden, we have a number of lavender plants around and never see any cats. Rosemary and Oregano work well too.
  6. Forest - Arsenal did the Reds a big favour last night by beating Luton 2-0 which now puts Forest 3 points clear of Luton on the same number of games. Forest away at Spurs on Sunday where a point is probably the best they can hope for. Luton are at home to 11th placed AFC Bournemouth on Saturday. Come Sunday it is quite possible that they will both again be on the same number of points as the number of games left dwindles.
  7. It's from the radiation they leak warping the space time continuum. Daylight saving plays havoc with the Cold Coast Airport at Coolangatta, The main runway cuts through the border of NSW and Queensland which have an hour time difference in summer. The airport runs on Queensland time but if you have a mobile phone the time can change by an hour when walking through the terminal depending whether your phone is pinging from a NSW or a QLD tower
  8. No wonder the UK is stuffed and we in OZ are well on the way to being the same. When, why and how did it all go so wrong! Is it the growing gulf between the haves and have nots? Is it the rise of legal and illegal immigration? Are the police so chronically undermanned and under resourced that they cannot investigate "minor" and non violent crimes. Is it the justice system that so often hands out sentences that do not fit the crime committed? Is the bail system too lenient?
  9. So who is going to police action against these thieves and how are they supposed to do it? Yet again, it looks like the bad guys are winning or are the police too busy pursuing hate crimes.
  10. When they change the clocks, I wonder how long it takes the good folks at the Museum of Timekeeping in Upton Hall to change all theirs or don't they bother. I cannot abide a clock that shows the wrong time. You cannot believe how long it takes me to get the clock on the microwave and the wall oven, which are adjacent to each other to show the same time. Surely the people who design wall ovens could make the changing of the time on the clock easier. We put our clocks back on Sunday, darker evenings from then until October. Yah, Boo, Hiss.
  11. Today the MD of Drakes supermarkets, a smaller version of Coles and Woolies which has stores in South Australia and Queensland, has announced that high value goods, mainly expensive cuts of meat will be packaged in a container that has a GPS tracker embedded within it. The tracker is removed at the till which means that the customer cannot use the self-check outs. We have just had our police commissioner on radio saying that they cannot guarantee police attendance if a GPS tracker indicates that goods have left the store without payment. Drakes say they are using the same system that is u
  12. Forest - Three people shy of 29,000 fans saw Forest get a convincing and very welcome 3-1 win over Fulham at the City Ground last night that moves them 3 points clear of the relegation zone. Hudson Odoi opened Forest's account in the 9th minute. Chris Wood again got his name on the score sheet in the 19th minute and Morgan Gibbs-White sent Forest in 3-0 at half time with a goal in time on. Fulham came out looking like a different team in the second half and chances were there for both teams to add to their tallies. The woodwork saved both teams in a frenetic second half. Forest away at 5th pla
  13. This practice of giving new customers discounts to join or become members really pi$$es me off. Obviously loyalty gets no rewards. It then becomes necessary to shop around for a new deal every year and of course the companies rely on customers not doing so. A rip off in a new guise.
  14. County - A 3-3 home draw against MK Dons in front of 10,000 plus fans moves them up one place to 15th. MK Dons scored 1st in the 19th Minute and it stayed that way until time on at the end of the half after Sam Austin equalised to take them in to the half time break on equal footing. Straight after the restart Alassana Jatta gave the Magies the lead. The Dons reclaimed the lead in the lead with the first of Ellis Harrison's brace in the 64th minute followed by another 20 minutes later. Aaron Nemane got a last gasp equaliser for County that denied MK Dons the points necessary to take them clos

  16. Today is one of those beautiful mornings, clear blue skies, hardly a breath of wind, 20 degrees at the moment forecast top 26. We are having a welcome Indian summer. Just cooked breakfast on the BBQ out on the patio looking at the sea which is like a mill pond. Fried bread, 1 egg, heaps of mushrooms, two very spicy chevapicic sausages, the square ones so they don't roll about on the BBQ so you can cook them evenly and a large truss tomato that smelled and tasted like it was from my grandads back yard green house. Having demolished that, just having a second cappuccino and going to read the pap
  17. Why not! Everyone knows that Fiat stands for Fix It Again Tony. Ford - Fix Or Repair Daily BMW - Big Money Wasted Jeep - Just Expect Expensive Problems SAAB - Sadly Awful Always Broken There are hundreds of others, which one is your car?
  18. Forest - 29,520 City Ground faithful saw Forest come back from being a goal behind in the 11th minute with a goal from Chris Wood in the 61st minute to salvage a draw that takes them out of the relegation spots on goal difference. Sorry Nuno, keep trotting out the excuses and useless platitudes, it is still not good enough to draw at home against the fourteenth placed side who have only had three away wins all season. Forest could have lost the game again right at the end as Munoz's header hit the post. They have not won a game since 17 Feb and need to get all three points against Fulham
  19. Thanks letsavagoo, it seems the government has a funding problem entirely of its own making, apart from more pensioners paying increasing income tax, it appears that long term funding will be an on-going budgetary problem. Here in OZ if your age pension is your only source of income you pay no tax on it.
  20. Is it time to abolish the House of Lords and operate a unicameral Parliament. Queensland has had one since 1922 and it seems to work OK there providing that the electorate do not give an outright majority to any particular party as it did in the days of Joh Bjelke-Petersen. It is the only state in Australia to have this system.
  21. County - Crumble again away at 19th placed Swindon Town and fall further down the ladder to 16th place. Swindon took the lead in the 19th minute and further extended it 15 minutes from full time. Alassana Jatta scored somewhat of a consolation goal in the second minute of time on at the end of the game. Notts had 75% of the possession but could not turn that into goals. Home on Monday to MK Dons who are pushing for a promotion spot. Stags - Lose 0-2 away at fellow promotion hopefuls Wrexham in front of almost 12,500 fans and surrender the top spot to Stockport by one point and they
  22. Never got to see Larry play live in a Forest shirt as he joined the reds after I emigrated. Saw him many times as a Liverpool player vs Forest He also managed the Magpies for a year too. 75 was far too young, RIP Larry, condolences to family and friends.
  23. Thanks for the explanation MargieH. Please don't take this the wrong way as I would never deride anyone's faith or beliefs, that is a personal choice. The fact that we somehow don't know when he was born or died or have any proof that he ever existed just adds to the whole fairy tale. I will declare the fact that I am a confirmed athiest.
